That's the Blakeley Formation. Same rocks you'll find exposed on the back side of Alki Point with the neat glacial scarring.

It's only the part of the city north of the Seattle-Bremerton fault that's uniformly under half a mile or more of glacial till; there's bedrock within 100m of the surface in much of the southern half of the city.
