A new free-jazz benefit album to help migrants at the Texas border. Arrington de Dionyso

Olympia musician/visual artist This Saxophone Kills Fascists (aka Arrington de Dionyso) and Deerhoof drummer Greg Saunier are releasing Big Ears on the Lookout to help raise money for RAICES Texas, an organization that helps "separated families, detained families, unaccompanied minors, and others who are seeking asylum in the United States." Bassist Steve Gigante (Dark Inside the Sun, WS Burn, Tiny Bird Mouths) and saxophonist Crow Meat Bob also appear on the CD-R. All proceeds go to RAICES, save for Bandcamp's administrative fees.

The album consists of marathon improv sessions that tap into the infernal dynamo of '60s free jazz and shoots bolts of revolutionary adrenaline through your system. Its three tracks were recorded in 2017 and 2018 at the Big Ears Music Festival in Knoxville, Tennessee, and at the Lookout Arts Quarry in Skagit County, Washington, respectively.

From the press release: "Can music make a difference? Can music change the world? We won't know unless we try, but many audiences have found Arrington's medicinal approach to reed instruments as a deeply cathartic and therapeutic activating tonic to counteract the dizzying stupor induced by the deeply evil activities of the Trump administration and rising tide of fascism that accompanies it."
