Now I have to see it.

A synopsis of the film I recently read elsewhere made it seem suspiciously like it's a second remake of 1973's The Wicker Man.

Hereditary had some good performances and was spooky, but the ending was a huge letdown. That film was all atmosphere and build up leading to a disappointing conclusion. I'm dubious about Midsommar.

nothing is funnier than a man attempting to review this movie.

I really liked Hereditary and still do. I honestly thought this one was a mess. The actors tried their best but the characters were pretty poorly written and even though Florence Pugh’s character experienced severe trauma from the start, the film feels oddly disconnected from her, as opposed to Toni Collette’s character in Hereditary. The film’s ideas could have been creepy but without any emotional core it is just tedious. And the horror violence in daylight just seemed unintentionally funny rather than scary. I know this film has gotten some high critical
praise, but I thought it sucked.

Thanks for the warning, Rich.
