"Heyer's mother, Susan Bro, said this about the terrorist: 'I never wish for the death penalty and still don't. I would like to see him change in time from a white supremacist to someone who helps bring others away from white supremacy.'"

Well, good for her.
Perhaps he'll see the stupidity of his way in prison
and go that route. He won't be alone.

Also, thanks Chase, for a calling a fucking Terrorist a Terrorist. Let's hope you've begun a Trend.

There's a controller in the arm rest of the seat. Rubbing your nasty ass bare feet around a shared space such as an airplane is pure entitlement.

Really good summary of the Squad/Trump show-down. I only have more respect and regard for these women - and - even less than before for Pelosi who should be thrown out by San Francisco voters as surely as Trump should be thrown out in Congress. She has been quite derelict in her responsibilities ... but what else is new? She just keeps reaching for a lower and lower bar.

What's especially unfortunate is that this will probably dominate the 2020 presidential elections as a good excuse for the corporate wing of the Democratic party to rig the primaries and advance a blah sell-out like Biden on the basis that anything is better than Trump.

But I can't vote that way (like Russian Roulette). So ... if Bernie Sanders doesn't get in - and I'd consider Warren or Gabbard (but she's way long-shot) ... I'm going third party or independent for the general. And good luck to the rest of you continuing to stick with the Democrats.

I’ve heard tons of people on the left attempting to justify the 9/11 attacks, thereby defending Al Qaeda’s attacks.

“JERRY FALWELL: And I agree totally with you that the Lord has protected us so wonderfully these 225 years. And since 1812, this is the first time that we've been attacked on our soil and by far the worst results. And I fear, as Donald Rumsfeld, the Secretary of Defense, said yesterday, that this is only the beginning. And with biological warfare available to these monsters -- the Husseins, the Bin Ladens, the Arafats -- what we saw on Tuesday, as terrible as it is, could be miniscule if, in fact -- if, in fact -- God continues to lift the curtain and allow the enemies of America to give us probably what we deserve.

PAT ROBERTSON: Jerry, that's my feeling. I think we've just seen the antechamber to terror. We haven't even begun to see what they can do to the major population.

JERRY FALWELL: The ACLU's got to take a lot of blame for this.

PAT ROBERTSON: Well yes.”

Get Ebola you pile of shit.

@4 if you're going to vote 3rd party in the general you may as well go all in and vote for Trump...

9

@6 So what are you saying, the looney left is as crazy as the looney right?

No argument from me on that point.

10

@7 That's just dumb. There are more than 2 choices. It's a big world with lots of different people and points of view beyond the Democrats and Republicans, who are quite close on many issues (for ex, foreign policy - and all the money they're swimming in from Wall St).

Plus, this just wasn't true during the general (e.g. the claim that Stein gave the election to Trump). The reason being, that there were right-wing 3rd parties and independents running, too (e.g. the Libertarians, the Constitution Party -and that man in Utah). And they took far, far, far more votes from Trump than Stein did with respect to Clinton (IF you accept the argument that these are votes that would go to Clinton - because then you have to accept the view that the right-wing votes would otherwise go to Trump). So, if you totaled all the right wing 3rd party/independent votes and gave them to Trump - and - you totaled all the left-wing 3rd party/independent votes and gave them to Clinton - and particularly in these swing states which were key - Trump not only still wins, he wins by a far greater landslide.

So this is just myth that the Democratic Party corporate wing used to scapegoat third party/independent left voters to cover their own butts and what they did in 2016.Namely, that they actually made Trump the GOP nominee in collusion with MSM. He was otherwise a longshot - and would be forgotten by now. They are more responsible for his presidency than anyone else and by enormous and obvious statistical odds. They put him one step from the POTUS into the general as the nominee and more than 1/2 way there. Then, Clinton didn't even listen to her own stat-based seasoned campaign advice; i.e. the numbers said she needed to pound the pavement in these swing states going face-to-face with voters on the economy - or she could lose. She refused - she chose, instead, to sip cocktail with wealthy donors.

So, there's your argument - which is really theirs - they want you to think this way so you won't look at what they're doing. They're really manipulating voters with this two-party crap.

Not to mention that this is Washington State which went to Clinton and likely will go blue in 2020, as well. Anyone voting here who doesn't choose one of the two major parties has really nothing to do with the outcome of the general election - and moreso to do with the building of other movements and candidates. Your votes are not equal, depending on where you are in the country. Yeah, if you're in a swing state, it might make more of a difference, but as you can see, in the analysis of numbers with 3rd party/independents on the left and right - it doesn't really matter there, either. Though of course, they want you to think it does.

11

"I guess men's soccer is cool too"?!?!
Well ya it is!
Chase, did you start watching Football (Sawker) only when the women's games were playing and missed the rest of the playoffs prior to that playing the most popular game in the world called, Football?

12

@10: Correct. Living in a blue state gives me the luxury of not voting for Democrats when I don't want to.

13

In the 2000 New Hampshire presidential election, Ralph Nader received a little more than 22,000 votes. Most people believe that the majority of those votes would have gone to Al Gore in a two-way race. Gore lost New Hampshire by about 7,200 votes. Now, I realize every eligible voter in this country may vote for whomever he/she/they deem(s) suitable whether the person is on the ballot or not. And in a tight race in an election year with widely opposing platforms along with other third- or fourth-party candidates, there must be a certain amount of internal self-satisfaction in taking what you see as the moral high ground and casting your vote for someone whom you support but has not even the tiniest chance of winning the election. But if you think you don't sometimes have to cast your vote strategically (especially when the choice is darkness or light), then you are lost in the stars - politically speaking.

Gore won 267 electoral votes (270 is required to win). If he had taken New Hampshire's three electoral votes, it would have made Florida irrelevant.

14

correction - NH has four electoral votes.

15

@13 As long as you don't know the effect of 3rd party candidates on voter turn out, you can't really claim that this is a simple problem of arithmetic. 3rd party candidates on the ballot may increase turn out more than the votes they take away from the duopoly. The real problem is NOT the few engaged people who would vote 3rd party because Biden sucks but the many who'll simply not vote because they know Biden will do very little for them like happened with HClinton, Gore et al. Conservatives Democrats like to blame the independent left for their losses but the reality is that their business as usual program and candidates are the problem.

16

The Greens only show up every four years, and only to be a moral scold. They couldn't even be bothered to find a new candidate in 2016 - just the same loser they had picked in 2012.

17

@15 - you may feel that Biden would "do little" for you or others. However, look at what Trump has "done TO" you. Do you really think that there's no difference? Are you actually going to tell me that, given the choice between four more years of this piece of shit or a dem who you don't like, that you actually don't care who wins?

@4 - Trump's check should be in the mail any time now.

@13 - thank you for posting this analysis. Nader's voters certainly have the right to vote for who they want, but it had a real effect on the election and those who voted for him should at least acknowledge that in the world we live in (as opposed to the one they WISH they lived in), the realistic choice is one of the two major party candidates, one of those two is going to be elected, and voting for a third will likely help the one you like the least. Helping W get elected almost looks minor ("bush-league"?) compared to what happened in 2016, resulting in the Orange Anus getting his tiny hands on the keys to the White House.

@16- I suspect that if the next administration conducts an investigation into Jill Stein's ties to Russia, she may wind up in prison rather than on future ballots.

18

@17 It's not about me, As I already said, it's about the 45% who couldn't bother to vote for or against Clinton. Are you paying attention?

On second thought, considering your belief in batshit crazy conspiracy theories regarding Stein I doubt that paying attention is going to help you much.

19

@16 " couldn't even be bothered to find a new candidate in 2016 - just the same loser"

isn't it what Democrats did with HCLINTON?

20

@17 the Jill Stein "a Russian agent" line is just pathetic. Seriously. Was that satire?

Also, Yes, Nader voters did have an effect on down ticket races- becuase they turned up- but as the math shows unequivocally, had no effect on the 2000 electoral results.

What would have an effect in 2020 though- as it did in 2016, would be to run another corporatist war monger like Biden- because, then as now, people WILL stay home rather than choose among evils.

And no- despite what Schumer, et al. say, Republicans will not cross over and vote for Biden any more than they did for Clinton.

21

@15 -- No, the real problem is that voters are too fucking stupid. They focus way too much on the presidency, and then freak out when the president doesn't make everything peachy. They lack even a basic understanding of our system (which gives just as much power to congress as the president). Many don't vote in midterm elections, while others don't vote at all. This is especially true of young people (supposedly the "woke generation") but it is true across the board. Many feel like they need to be "inspired", and can't bring themselves to vote for someone who is the lesser of two evils. They think that their vote is somehow sacred, and it should only be used for someone pure and wonderful. They ignore the fact that much of the progress made in this country was made by assholes and leaders with mental illness. If you really think that the two people who actually have a chance to win (Gore and Bush in 2000, Trump and Clinton in 2008) are exactly the same, then by all means, skip that choice on the ballot. But for everyone else, such an act is simply lazy, delusional or irresponsible.

22

@21 The "voters are stupid" excuse isn't very convincing when your party is essentially as much responsible as the GOP for grotesque inequality, deregulation, outsourcing, warmongering, doing nothing about climate (like Gore when he could), etc

23

@20 - I disagree about Nader not affecting the electoral vote, but I admire your commitment to a cause and being a purist about it. Many of us feel that it is no longer the people who run this country, but rather the money guys who dictate what we will and will not do as a nation. This country has lost its way in several respects. But again, throwing an election into the hands of a despot by either not voting strategically or worse, not voting at all , seems, I don't know, kind of crazy. Look at all the criminals and fools Trump has appointed to his Cabinet. Rick Perry, Secretary of Energy, ran his presidential campaign on the promise of eliminating that department as it has been a thorn in the side of oil companies.. Betsy DeVos, Secretary of Education, is heavily invested in corruption-rich, for-profit diploma mills and is trying to roll back advances made against that industry by Obama. Those are only two in that chamber of horrors. Hilary might have been yesterday's mashed potatoes, but I think we could have counted on her for supporting clean air and water, for instance, or advancing green technology, or respecting human rights.

24

"purist"

propaganda to depict leftist as out of touch dreamers when ~70% of the population agrees withth their program (from health care to taxation)

as if Obama appointing a MOnsanto exec to the FDA or pro charter schools secretary was much better

25

Speaking of planes, how come there's a 46 percent each year increase in flights from Lake Union, at high pitch, over residential areas, exceeding the 80 decibel noise limits and waking up all the kids in Wallingford and Fremont?

Is the Mayor and our Lands Commissioner asleep at the wheel?

Kemore sued them and got them to stop being noisy - why are Seattle citizens the victims?

26

anon1256, I'm sorry you don't understand how elections work. Let me try to explain it to you....

The parties have these things called PRIMARIES. That's where they select their candidate. In 2008 Hillary Clinton ran for the Democratic nomination, but lost to Barak Obama, who went on to serve two terms as President Of The United State.

In 2016, Hillary ran again, and won the nomination and the popular vote, but she lost the electoral college.

The Greens presumably have a similar process, but no one really cares. They're just there to be bitchy.
