“Greta Goes Yachting”.

A new book from Carbon Panic Press.

2

"Denied service" at Beth's when dicks fuck themselves. Apeshit meth-heads shoot up in the waiting area there.
This happened: dude tried the rancid food, it made him so violently ill he had to smash the window to get out and wrecked his vehicle while puking his way to the hospital.

3

@2: Takes a rancid mind to such a delinquent comment.

4

@2:

Honestly, even given it's early Monday morning, that was lame - for one thing, if he needed to "escape", why did he throw a "No Parking" sign purloined from the sidewalk INTO the restaurant?

6

The shocker hand looks more like Bill Clinton to me.

7

One of the reasons the arctic fires is because of the peat that’s burning. https://www.wired.com/story/the-bizarre-peaty-science-of-arctic-wildfires/

8

He drove a Prius. Clearly he had to find some way to look like a man.

9

Badly edited. One of reasons it is so dire regarding the arctic fires is because of the peat that’s burning https://www.wired.com/story/the-bizarre-peaty-science-of-arctic-wildfires/

10

@5:

And you're NOT? I mean, really - you just spent time commenting about two other comments, neither of which were even addressed to you. In the immortal words of William Shatner "get a life!"

12

Obviously driving cars leads to rage. We should ban that.

Peat is useful for other things.

Anyone else notice all the 25-story residential buildings going up all around town? I lost count after 40. There's a metric Fnarf-load of them. And, no extra on-street parking, because most are near transit centers. Some are replacing old fossil fuel filling stations, that the market has removed. Ah, Invisible Hand, I love thee so ..

13

8 He got into the passenger side of the car. I seriously doubt it was a British version of a Prius, so he was not driving a Prius. Please find another way to grab your crotch in public.

14

Log Cabin is endorsing Trump in 2020:

https://www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc-out/gay-republican-group-endorses-trump-reversal-2016-n1043221

Ronald and Abe just rolled over.

15

@13 Even worse then, his wife was driving him around in a Cuckmobile. Emasculated man are the most volatile.

16

So you couldn't use an actual picture of the real Glacier, which is an inland glacier but use one that looks like it is still "a glacier" and on the ocean. Another bad use of dumb getty images.

17

Nat, it was the Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) that crushed the Tianneman Square protests, not the paramilitary PAP types that are drilling in Shenzen.

18

The sinking ship parking garage is cool and I'm glad it won an award.

19

14- those who still idolize Reagan and confess voting for W, twice, should have seen this coming and assume some responsibility.

21

That bizarre hand looks more like Julian Assange from the front more so than Trump. Although from a closer view in profile, it does not look like either of them. Also, why would you want that thing up there for three freaking years? It is not terribly nice to look at, nor is it very groundbreaking or interesting. Put it inside.

@16: I am not one to complain about the use of Getty Images like some are, but considering how the pictures of the disappearing glacier are everywhere, it does seem odd that they chose specifically not to use it.

22

@21 Stock photos in and of themselves aren't the problem-- it's the painfully routine use of stock photos of the wrong subject that we complain about here in the SLOG comments.

23

"Trump will continue to blame the media and his critics and,
I bet, will weasel his way out of responsibility for this, too."

A safer bet there never was -- that's been his "business" model ever since Daddpfy trumpfy made him a Millionaire, at the age of three. And now, it's Fake Prez's Plan for America -- bankrupt the motherfucker (that'd be US), sell it off piecemeal (just like his Hero, Putin!) and hope to outrun Legal Action until one of his Progenies are handed the reins to America -- including Canada (easy as pie!) Mexico (brown people!) Central and South Americas (foreigners, but make Wonderful, Great slaves!).

Our Billionares have never been Happier.

"Teen activist Greta Thunberg has set sail in a zero-emissions yacht for a two-week trip across the Atlantic Ocean to speak at the UN's climate summit."

That's gotta piss off the Billionaires -- to be shown up by a fucking on-the-spectrum TEENAGER? Look for the Kochs -- or other sociopathic [psychopathic?] Climate Profiteers -- to find a way to silence her and her supporters.

Including buying off NPR and PBS -- or whatever the Fuck it takes.

More Poisons in your Aquifers, peeps?
BIGGER Storms?
Your choice.

Poofy @15: "Emasculated man are the most volatile."
As volatile as (closeted) Jackbooted terrorists?

Not likely.

24

All the cool kids know that glaciers come and glaciers go.
It's the Cycle of Life.
Been going on for Billions and Billions of years...

ps that hand ain't no artwork.

25

@23

You have to realize that to the 404 troll riding in a hybrid is more emasculating then male to female gender reassignment surgery.

26

@2 -- I recommend the Pepto Bismal.
Good Luck!

27

@24

You know what else is part of the cycle of life?
Mass extinction.

28

@25 -- I know.

Poofy was spotted IN THE BACK of ten year old a Prius, picked up by a gay couple in Port Angeles and is Terrified his pic's gonna be published in some far far FAR right-wing nutters Magazine (or an NRA poster). He's just leveling the playing field til he figures out a strategy -- "Undercover Agent," or some such Nonsense. Stay tuned.

29

27
Exactly.
The Left claims to believe in Evolution and Science! but squeal like bitches when it happens.
Leftist Mass Extinction can't happen soon enough, this planet is sick of their whining...

30

@27 The End of the World is Nigh?

31

Dear Sock Puppy Puffy
@30 @29 @24 @15
@ naseum:

when you get the carpal tunnel
will you Blame The Stranger?

You (too!) might gonna get
RICH!

32

@30

The end of humanity and human civilization does not equal the end of the world.

33

@29

All Humans require the same environmental conditions to survive.
Right-wingers, leftists and those who choose not to participate will all equally face the consequence of human extinction.

Have a pleasant day.

34

@33 -- "Right-wingers, leftists and those who choose not to
participate will all equally face the consequence of human
extinction."

Yep. If that's how tighty-Whitey-righties
gotta Own the Libs, their own Extinction
is a small price to pay.

Pragmatic, they are not.
Vengeful, they ARE.

35

Actually we'll be just fine in the Heartland, thanks.
The throngs packed in the costal killing zones?
Not so much.

36

@33 Human extinction? You’d think Jay Inslee would be polling above 0%.

37

This is why I say there are multiple people with the tool for posting without registration.

Dude there are nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers all over the place.

I don’t think we’re facing extinction, but man will the weather be interesting.

38

Just give me notice before you plan to invade, bro, and I’ll go close the passes myself.

This “creating a new redwood forest” thing is going to take a few tries.

39

@19: What is notable is that they strongly did not endorse Trump in 2016. Details in the linked article offer some insights why.

40

“You have to realize that to the 404 troll riding in a hybrid is more emasculating then male to female gender reassignment surgery

@25

Correct!

41

When Greta speaks at the UN I hopes she addresses the issue of overpopulation. Failure to do this would make her just another armchair environmentalist.

42

"... Greta ... just another armchair environmentalist."

One who refuses to board a jet
who woke up schoolkids Planetwide
and who addresses the U fucking N.

Not sure I can concur, Eila.
Although if your Point is, she ain't Perfect
your right.

43

The problem with Greta's whole publicity stunt is that air travel isn't particularly bad carbon-wise on a per mile basis (a modern jetliner gets about the same miles per gallon per passenger as a average bus,) it's that it enables casual long distance travel. Particularly business travel; the whole culture around business travel has exploded in the last couple of decades due to relatively cheap airfare even though remote working has never been easier.

Greta could have sent a way better message by appearing remotely instead of the ultra entitled "going to the meeting is bad for the environment, but I get to go anyways because I really wanna and I have fabulously wealthy friends who will lend me their expensive yacht and crew it for several weeks."

44

“more emasculating then male to female gender reassignment surgery”

How could the surgery be emasculating when you’re already a woman, albeit one with a nutsack? Surely castration would be “liberating”, would it not? Your transphobia is showing.

45

I've always been a little suspicious of the ones who assume the role of "calling attention to" or "spreading the word" as taking the easy road. Stirring up shit and calling for a walkout really accomplishes nothing but I guess it can be a lot of fun, especially if you are a callow youth.

46

Yeah the 16 year old girl with Asperger’s entirely understands all of the cues she’s supposed to pick up on(I see them, just don’t care. Try harder) and is aware of expectations people she doesn’t know exist have for her.

No harm will come of kids identifying with someone and attempting to convince their parents to be green.

47

Ah, yes, the callow youth, wishing for --
Working For -- an Inhabitable fucking Planet.

PANIC, she says.

And the World, built and
maintained for Billionaires,
shrugs.

Let's hope the Callow Youth fucking Vote.

48

@47, yes, all threats to the hegemony of the world of billionaires travel by multi-million dollar racing yacht.

49

Well, at least one of them does.

50

I believe Greta is sincere; I also believe their is a bit of manipulation involved as well. Many ages ago there was a children's crusade to rescue the holy land from the infidel.

51

I believe she's sincere, but she has the same problem as all climate conscious celebrities in that she uses her immense privilege to insulate herself from actually having to make the lifestyle choices that most people are going to have to make if we're actually going get serious about climate. The boat thing is less egregious perhaps than buying "carbon offsets" for your private jet, but not by much.

52

"... she uses her immense privilege to insulate herself from actually having to make the lifestyle choices that most people are going to have to make... "

What if she's terified of Storms? Isn't ridng on a boat across an Ocean (for ten days) perfect enough? How Pure must she be?

Villagers making Lifestyle choices is NOT what's gonna turn this thing around. We need a fucking Sea Change in the way we're casually/callously destroying our Biosphere.

Mother Nature seems to be getting a little pissed off.
It only takes one little Shrug, and we're goners.

Unless -- you happen to own lots and lotsa Coal Mines
and have plenty enough Wealth to build your own, personal
underground (fascist?) (whynot?) (YOU are The Boss!) Utopia.
