Stick with the Flower!

This article says the FDA is looking into Vitamin E acetate within, particularly, THC vaping products. They've found it in several of the THC vaping products used by people who have gotten sick but it isn't clear if those are legal products, black market, or more homemade. Vitamin E acetate is an oil that may vaporize and then condense in the lungs.

Vape pens always made me feel like my lungs are shrinking. Heavy tightness in my chest and I cough long after I've taken the hit. I stopped using them despite my friends and weed sellers claiming they're "just as safe" as the flower. Something about them never felt right to me.

Thanks for the link @2. Seems like the industry should put a precautionary halt on selling anything with vitamin E acetate.

And that generalizes to anything with similar physicochemical properties as we find out what's going on.

I'd really want a regulated whitelist of allowed substances in the vape carrier material.

I'm with #3, I'll generally only use a pen if for a quick discreet puff at a concert or something and have noticed similar effects. I've tried nicotine pens as an alternative to cigarettes, and my body seems to react much more unpleasantly than just a smoke. I'm really curious as to what further research will provide.

Anybody that's put

I'm with @3 and @6, I tried vaping but it's not for me. Something about inhaling propylene glycol just never felt right to me. When I quit smoking cigarettes, vaping wasn't an option but thankfully the patch worked very well for me.

Vaping cannabis, etc. and tobacco are new applications of the technology and since they're consumed any complications or problems are likely to involve injuries of some kind so let's hope they get the kinks worked out and quickly before more people die or are injured.

When I vape, I use a box mod that takes a cartridge-size cylinder designed for dabbing. Same kind of portability and discretion as a pen, but without the messiness that can result from an oil- or PG-diluted concentrate.

I also have a pen, but refill cartridges with pure wax or shatter. It can take longer to heat up (though you can goose it with a torch) but, again, no mess โ€”since it cools down to a near-solid state โ€” and no additives. And more economical

The anti-vape climate is at a fever pitch. It is being targeted from all sides for corrupting our youth, being as unhealthy as smoking or that it might explode in your face.
Taxing vapes at the same rate as ciggarettes, 21 and over bans, bans on flavoring, outright bans.
Vaping is saving countless lives.
"Studies show that if most current American smokers switched to vaping e-cigarettes over the next 10 years, there could be as many as 6.6 million fewer premature deaths" said David Abrams, PhD, professor of social and behavioral sciences at NYU College of Global Public Health"
"the Royal College of Physicians in the United Kingdom and other systematic reviews of all the evidence to date estimate that e-cigarettes are about 95 percent less harmful than smoking"
But politicians smell blood in the water and will do anything for votes, especially if its "for the children"

Honestly, if Lester had any understanding of regulations when it comes to consumables, he'd be advocating for the same kind of regulations given by California Prop 65 which requires producers to test their products for heavy metals and other potentially toxic substances.

But that would require actual knowledge of regulatory law. And no one should expect a journalist to understand silly stuff like that!
