By pushing the tariffs, Trump will keep those receiving social security from getting a significant cost of living increase. The increase amount will be announced, THEN the tariffs will go into effect, and the cost of living will go up significantly (it always goes up more than any COLA increase anyway, this year and next year it will just go up much, much more). If there's any way Trump and his administration can make people suffer, he will make it happen.
