Suspect arrested in light-rail shooting: A 20-year-old man was arrested in Bellevue for injuring two people and killing one in the Westlake light rail station shooting on Friday night. Bellevue police recognized the man from the surveillance video that the Seattle Police Department circulated. According to the Seattle Times, Bellevue police were very familiar with this man. Sound Transit has beefed up its light rail station security.

Issaquah High School student arrested over TikTok video: A teenage girl made what police considered a school shooting threat on the video app that's hip with the youth. While a search of her house yielded no weapons and no feasible way to carry out an attack, she was still arrested and booked and could face felony harassment charges. The police aren't fucking around with this shit, kids.

Oh boy, a deluge is on the way: It's going to be wet and windy. I'm pretty sure I left my rain jacket at a house that is not mine. This was a bad move! Oh well, I'll deal with this problem in two hours when I have to leave the sanctuary of my home.

Two high-school football deaths: In the same weekend, two high-school boys in different states died during their football games. One was a sophomore in Oklahoma and the other was a senior in West Virginia. Both sustained injuries playing football and died. Cool, cool. We'll just let kids keep playing this sport. Kids like these two or like my little brother who's a running back on his high-school team. I hate it!

Seattle City Council passed a bill package to benefit hotel workers: It will ensure that hotel employees work more reasonable hours, receive more money to cover health-insurance costs, have access to panic buttons, and more. The legislation carries out the same thing as the initiative (I-124) voters approved in 2016 but is caught up in the court system. One point of criticism is that ancillary businesses that rent space within a hotel may be held to the same standards as that hotel. Small businesses are worried about those potential requirements. The owner of Biscuit Bitch wrote a scathing letter to the council that's making the rounds online:

Hong Kong is looking for a PR firm: One hundred days of nearly nonstop protesting can really make a country evaluate its image. Hong Kong was seeking the help of international public-relations firms in order to improve its image in Western countries. No one agreed to help.

The US Navy just confirmed that UFOs are real: And we have former Blink-182 singer Tom DeLonge to thank for it. DeLonge has a UFO research organization that has obtained footage of "unidentified aerial phenomena" (that's the new term for UFO). The navy confirmed that what was seen in these videos was unidentified and that these aerial objects had infiltrated US air space. Here's one of the videos DeLonge obtained.
