But, why no action until now?

I mean, nothing on the continuing exemptions for millionaires and billionaires for an entire term, or the continued tax subsidies for suburban single occupancy car drivers to use the land on our public rights of way for free for vehicle storage, while congestion for transit and bikes explodes.

All I see is an expanded Mercer to let suburban car drivers take over our city. And a tunnel we never needed to enrich the millionaire and billionaire property owners views at public expense.

We need a tax on elected officials.

How about pass these taxes and sun set those regressive taxes that are such a burden on working folk? That would be really revolutionary.

@1 Pretty much every tax proposal out of the Seattle City Council lately would be immediately struck down as impermissible under our state constitution. Presumably Morales knows she is just throwing out ideas that are complete non-starters, so all she wants to accomplish here is fool dumb people into believing she is somehow going to change state tax law.

Oh look, the Champagne Socialist is drunk on her own Veuve Clicquot.

“I was making $8,000 a year more in New York and when I got my first pay check in Seattle I was making twice as much because of the regressive nature of our tax structure.”

Can we see copies of your paystubs there, Tammy? Sounds like bullshit to me.

@6: Ahem.

If Lester had wanted to mention the tens of thousands of signatures which No Tax On Jobs! collected over a very short time, he would have done so. But those all went down the Memory Hole — you know, the same place where CM Sawant’s little interaction with union iron workers went? — and so those signatures may just as well have all been written by unpersons.

(Seriously, it’s fascinating to watch The Stranger attempt to rewrite history so soon after it happened. That, and try to keep winning with the same tactics which recently produced such a miserable loss.)
