Sounds about as smart as the Rolling Stones hiring the Hell's Angels for security at Altamont

5

Does Sizzling Hot Pot have a local branch? Or is it Sizzling Pot King?
Wanna know where I should protest?

6

Sorry. I simply can not take the concerns of someone who wears a man-bun seriously.

7

Are we supposed to be upset about something? Democracy is messy business.

8

@1 -- You mean heavily-armed (well-muscled!) jack-sandled Jesus?
Oh, He approves, alrighty...

@6 -- What if he wears it ironically?

9

@8
Even worse...

11

Giving preferential treatment to people because of their skin color is racist.

12

I for an am shocked - anyone affiliated with proud boys should not even be able to take a one-off minimum wage job. That's simply too big a platform for someone who... did what Staggs did, whatever it is. They should never breath a satisfied breath in their life ever again!

Only be ostracizing this thought from society fully - by any means necessary - will anyone be safe.

"Now you, please line up to take the political opinions test before we let you into community college. Aren't you glad it'll be free of people with bad thoughts?"

13

Just love these PNW rednecks, they look just as bizarre and sound just as disconnected from reality as their inbred cousins down south. I guess these folks think Ted Nugent is a fashion trend setter but their outfits and attitudes set off alarm bells for the rest of us. Unless you like bow hunting deer in your camo pajamas, that is.

Thankfully they all hang out together, relieving the rest of society of society of that particular burden. What amazes me is there are a small number of women, and probably a few men, who find these folks attractive. But I'm also thankful their demographic is slowly dying off, nature is wise.

@11 - doing right by people that white society once did massive wrongs to for centuries is not racist, you can call it payback, karma, or just putting things right for a change. What was racist was white people treating other people very badly simply because they had different colored skin.

14

@4 - Right? Except with waaay more worrisome and with longer term implications. Kind of sounds like the Saalschutzabteilung, actually.

@12 - I don't care about your "bad thoughts", hell I have plenty of my own. I care about people with bad fists and bad intent to use them to badly hurt other people. Which is what the Proud Boys have proven themselves to be. Don't try to police our thoughts, you authoritarian!

15

I think they got paid in flag bandanas and hot pockets.

16

@14 you know democrats supported slavery?

I mean, tell me about Stagg's criminal history (if any) or how that makes him suitable/unsuitable for a security gig. Also, should we go through the rolls of every candidate, vetting each staffer no matter how minimal their role? What if they bought t-shirts from a t-shirt shop that also made t-shirts for a white supremacist motorcycle club? We should cancel it from the ballot, right?

17

@13 -- "What was racist was white people treating other people
very badly simply because they had different colored skin."

No longer being allowed preferential treatment
(to which one is obviously Entitled)
(has always been entitled to)
(won't be entitled to ANY MORE?!!)
Is Repression.

WHY do we hafta SHARE this (once-Great!) Country?
Can't they all just Go BACK to wherevertf they Came From?!

18

@16 - Non sequitur much? you know the republicans accepted climate change facts...oh...just 18 years ago? Fucking turncoats.

Proud Boys are entitled douchebag thugs. They are fools -willingly- doing the bidding of the Richety Rich 1% in the current class-war, and Twumpet is their Spirit-Animal.

Did you not see the situation in Portland recently where they planned and attacked people, unprovoked? You really think the ^rest^ of the Broud Poys aren't basically gagging to do the same thing? And now they are doing "security theater" for racists. Great resume there Poys.

Don't be facetious & falsely make it about one guy, the "Broud Poys" were contacted... it was allied groups working in cahoots. Wear whatever t-shirt make you happy, just don't attack people or actively support racists. Actions > Words.

19

@17 - "Can't they all just Go BACK to wherevertf they Came From?!"

Naah, cause the US'll just bomb it anyway. What's the point?

20

Bless you, pat L, GermanSausage, kristofarian, RickFromTexas, and treacle for beating me to it for a 5-way WIN. Bravo--I have nothing ore to add.

21

@18 it's not a "non-sequitor", it's showing how pointless the affiliation with Proud Boys really is. You don't take any responsibility for the acts of groups you're associated with, so why should Skaggs? Surely, because some dummy shot up a Washington DC softball field, you shouldn't be fired from your job, should you? The answer you give for yourself must be the same as you give for Skaggs, otherwise, you're the facist you're "trying to fight against".

@20 When you lay down with German Sausage, you wake up unfulfilled and with cold sores on your belly button.

It's interesting how the Asian community continues to be manipulated by the right wing.
The recent lawsuit against Harvard and the criteria they use to admit students was brought by an Asian American group spurred on by Edwrad Blum who has fought against Affirmative Action all over the country.
He was also behind Shelby County V Holder that argued against the voting rights act of 1965.
Asian American's have benefited from Affirmative Action in the past but now they're against it while being used as pawns and being "the face of" anti Affirmative Action campaigns around the country by white groups because if you see an older white guy as the spokesperson of such a campaign you just chalk it up to another bitter, racist white guy but if you seen an Asian person or a group of Asian people as the face of such a campaign all of a sudden it changes how people might feel about the issue.
It's insidious and somehow the Asian American communities that take part either don't see it or don't care but either way they forget how Affirmative Action helped them.
It's a case of : "i got mine, the hell with you!"
