The longer the Trump administration goes on, the more I'm convinced that Calvin was right.
We are really depraved. Like totally.
Somewhere there's a shred of moral fiber out there. Maybe somewhere.

But they already KNEW this was going to happen. Trump lied (surprise, surprise) claiming Sondland was going to back up his user fabrications in the first place.

Which is why senate republicans went from: "It's fake news, it never happened."

To: "Of course we ask for political favors! Extorting Quid Pro Quo from foreign powers to use against domestic political foes is simply smart politicking!" The entire pretense of integrity and principle has evaporated like the morning mist. The republican party is essentially a criminal organization out to extort the public coffers. The Putin Thugocracy regime is their model and it's where we are going.

It's sort of the rightwing playbook. From the Climate Crisis, to raping young girls, to the deficit. It's always:

"X didn't happen.
And if it did, it is't that bad.
And if it is that bad, you did it first.
Well it happened but it's too late now. Anyway, you let me so... you deserved it."

Always good to see you around these parts, Wm. Stephen, even when it relates to the shitgibbons presently skullfucking democracy and morality.

Sondland claims his surprise recollection was motivated by reading impeachment inquiry testimony: “Ambassador Taylor recalls that Mr. Morrison told Ambassador Taylor that I told Mr. Morrison that I had conveyed this message to Mr. Yermak.”

Or in other words, "Yeah, whatever the one guy said that the other guy said that I said, that's how it happened. I remember it like it was yesterday."

@5: That is what is so funny about all this stuff, everyone is constantly lying, and we just latch onto the lies we like best and say they are the truths, hoping for the best.

7

@5 & 6: Why would he be lying now? What do you think would be the reason for this?

8

@7: Probably one of the multitude of many reason why elected officials lie all the time.

The better question is, why would you believe known liars only at the second they start saying what you want to hear?

He lied then, he is probably lying now, and he will probably tell a third lie about it in the future. And the seasons, they go round and round.
