Space Force thing is so absurd. So now we have two armies, two navies, and 4.5 air forces.

Even money this is the last we ever hear of it.

2

THNX for the Senate Hearings link!
(Repbs are STILL lying!)
HOW can they defend the Indefensible?
Easily, it appears.

So, Prez's chief Fixer wants to get outta jail, eafrly, after cheating on Prez's 2016 campaign -- FOR THE PREZ? Can't blame the guy; Prez is still strutting round like nothing ever happened. Silencing his multiple mistresses (for $275,000.00) doesn't even matter?

Nothing consequential EVER happens to the Donald. He's been fuking people over and getting off scot-free his whole fucking life. And now, he's Fucking US over. Perhaps it's time for a Change.

Black Hebrew Israelites is almost as much of a cultural appropriation as Christianity itself was in the first place. Smdh

Congratulations on the Weekend Edition spot!

I tried listening to the impeachment debate, but the gish gallop of lies from the Republican member I heard talking was just too much to take.

Space Force is even more absurd than the hack lawyer in jail for knowingly lying to Congress asking for an even MORE reduced sentence than the one he received. It's almost as if Republicans don't ACTUALLY care about wasteful spending and reducing the size of government...

8

Space Force is to the armed forces as the XFL is to professional sports leagues.

More congrats on the Weekend Edition spot! I could see this airing after The Puzzler, which would pretty much guarantee a huge listenership (guaranteed regardless, of course. Huger, I suppose.)

9

@6: Well, typically there's a D or an attorney or Nadler who speaks after an R. Sounds like you just bored.

10

"... the annual defense authorization bill by the House of Representatives does two big things. First, it provides all federal workers with 12 weeks of paid parental leave for the first time in American history... "

Well. Mother fawking Fawker.
SO AWESOME.

Of course, it'll never get past the KYJellyman
aka Moscow Mitch who owns the Senate.

11

Space Force is completely silly.

My bet is that it gets slow-walked till the Orange Menace is out of office, then it will quietly disappear. I don't think anyone besides Cadet Bonespurs is taking it seriously, nobody else wants it, and congress is appropriating barely enough money for it to rent office space.

12

Unless...

And this is something Repubs always do before an Election -- they ever-so-briefly pretend to be Dems so that the American attention-span™ forgets all the horrific bs they'd spewed out, all the Economies they rigged, markets cornered, drafts dodged, et all, ad vomitum for the previous three years.

'Why, Repubs, they're just as good as the Dems! Look -- they just passed ONE Bill that actually Works for the fawking Citizenry, over the Point Oh One Percenters! Hell, they're even better than Dems. That does it. In 2020 I'm votin' for the repressive Regressives. Or is it the regressive Repressives ... whatever -- the pissed-off guys (and gals) from Impeachment Teevee.

Anyone supporting Space Force needs to be forced to go back and revisit Reagan's Star Wars and every cent allocated to that fantasy.

14

And
Congrats on going National!
Omg -- we knew you When!
Well Played you two.

I miss my used DVD Store something fierce....
With dvds you (also) get . . . commentariat.
Plus, ez-peezy scrolling, convenient rewind, etc

omg -- The Future's happening
right here @ The Stranger!
stream on, baby

Congress increases already grossly bloated war budget by $22 billions days after Trump slashes SNAP (food stamps) for millions of people and only 41 Democrats vote against it. It's a fucking disgrace. Don't ever trust these Democrats.

17

@14, 15,

Gentlemen! You can't fight in here, this is the war room!

18

Yes, congrats on going national on NPR!
@12 ad vomitum sums it up pretty well!

19

@17 FTW. Great movie!

20

@13 - It wasn't a fantasy. It was bluffing the Soviets into expenditures they couldn't with. And it worked! God bless Ronnie's heart.

21

God bless Ronnie for suggesting that nuclear conflicts are "winnable" thanks to a space shield?

It's FREEDUMB on another level if you ask me, and there is no evidence SDI contributed to the collapse of the Soviet Union. Arming Afghans and Muslim extremists against the Soviet on the other hand was quite effective if you exclude the disastrous blowback that followed to the present.

22

@20 well, there were many spinoffs, really. Some we still can't tell you about (most of which worked) and others that the Russians are still wasting people in trying to do themselves.

We even have the Chinese going wacko over some of them now.

23

@21: Of course it's evident that it was a contributing factor. What do you want, an old White House memo? The evidence is the result.
