The idea of this legislation should be to prevent wasting time on these symbolic resolutions in the future. If City of Seattle has no jurisdiction over the government or entity that is oppressing people and is not able to provide any funding or aide to cure the oppression - we shouldn't be wasting time and paying people for the hours it takes, to put these in our laws. A better use of time would be for individual council members to bring these resolutions up to Washington State Representatives and Senators for Bills at the Federal level where there could be funding available or aide money to fight against the oppression.

As city taxpayers our City elected Council is being paid to concern itself with the matters of the City of Seattle first and foremost. Any matters outside City of Seattle should be the lowest priority.
