As long as the Senate trial ends with Prezirapist AntiChrist’s beheading, crucifixion, or electrocution, I’ll be satisfied. They can air it live during February sweeps.

3

After all that coronavirus, impeachment, Kobe news, I admit I appreciated the light relief of that Dracula joke.

6

The dracula joke would be slightly better with a question mark after Venn.

7

@ 5,

It’s gonna be a race to see whether government prosecutors, end-stage dementia, McDonalds & Coke, or terminal syphilis solve our white trash fascist dicktator problem.

9

I see Kobe-mania is still raging.
So apparently we have satisfied ourselves that the woman in question was just a "gold-digger".
Apparently in this case we do not "believe the woman".
It's puzzling to me because from what I read she had quite a believable, compelling narrative and he as much as admitted so in his statement.
It does seem incoherent to lionize a felony rapist when a misdemeanor prankster like Al Franken pays with his professional life and reputation.
Too bad Al Franken didn't have 4 daughters to dote on.

10

shoreline philosopher
there may be an acquittal, but will it be based on fair hearings and evaluations or just, "we got the majority and can force it on the rest of you"?
And beyond "sticking it to the lefties" how will it benefit this country?

11

@9: Kobe was never convicted for the rape allegation and therefore remains innocent for all eternity in the eyes of the law, and should in your our eyes too. That vixen who accused Kobe had intercourse with someone else after the alleged rape. Women who are actually raped don't do that.

12

"vixen"

omfg you're actually serious

13

@11 well, no we don't know that the victim had intercourse with someone else after the rape.
The semen stain was on her underwear which she claimed were from the day before. She did report the incident promptly.
We do know that her blood, which was not menstrual blood, was found on Kobe's t-shirt and she had clear evidence of strangulation.
That information is from Wikipedia. Feel free to slander her if you wish, characterize her as a "vixen", but the facts are the stubborn facts and they are very damning to Mr Bryant.

15

Natalie, you are a real treasure. I loved that Dracula joke.

16

@13: You never cared about the rape until after his death. Why is that?
@14: The law says innocent until proven guilty. Educate thyself, queen.

18

Raindrop, please explain why Mr Bryant settled for two and a half million dollars a rape case that he was innocent of. Beggars the imagination.

19

That “deal of the century” Mideast “peace plan” is nothing but an attempt by leaders accused of corruption and breach of trust to divert attention from an impeachment trial and enhance netanyahu’s position while heading to yet another round of election. (The third in a year, its only purpose is to achieve parliamentary majority that will grant him immunity.)

It is telling that both Netanyahu and the guy who actually won the election but can’t for a coalition were summoned to Washington to get details about the plan before it is made public. No Palestinian was invited nor consulted.
All will claim that once again the Palestinians are rejecting “yet another generous offer.”

Interesting to note that those concerned about sexual assault and rape victims never remember Juanita Broderick. When our beloved ex-president meets his maker, there will be to tolerance from the liberal media for mentioning these unfortunate events.

22

@18

Once a gas station accused me of driving away without paying for $10 worth of gas.
The station owner said if I didn't pay he would take me to court.
I asked him, if I was going to steal gas why would I steal exactly $10 worth of gas?

I didn't steal the gas, but I paid the station the $10 so I wouldn't have to lose more money by going to court.

I have no opinion on Kobe Bryant's guilt or innocence, but I can certainly understand why he would pay.

23

@18

I should add that Kobe Bryant made over $680 million over the course of his career.

24

@18: Think about it. Makes the plaintiff appear conniving. Setting a case financially circumvents the legal process the alleged victim should have pursued to achieve justice.

25

@24

You may not know this, but when you hire a lawyer they will advise you on the best plan of action you should take in order to win.

Lawyers will often recommend that you make a settlement or take a settlement, even if that isn't what you want to do.

That is one of the realities of our legal system.

26

@24- "should"? You're awfully big on this prescriptivist bullshit of what a rape victim should or should not do.
If Kobe's lawyers offered her two & a half mil to not testify and subject herself to the humiliation of a public trial, she 'should' do what exactly? What 'should' she do?

27

The joke didn't need the last line at all. And yes, a question mark at the end of the second line would have been an improvement.

29

@22 Over a year ago a car tried to squeeze in front of me on an onramp behind 4 cars I let in. Not enough room so she went for it thinking I would jam on the brakes to let her in. She bumped my car then when she saw I didn't back off tried to report me for hit and run and threatened to sue me. State Patrol Investigated and no ticket was issued. I'm still waiting on that lawsuit. People like to say they are going to sue you but rarely follow-up on it.

I also had a gas station attendant accuse me of shoplifting and told me to "put it back or give him 20$" I told him to "get fucked, call the cops, I'll wait" then I waited for him to not call the cops, it was Bellevue so the cops came quick. I told the cop the guy was a "fucking idiot" and when the cop cleared me I made sure to tell the attendant too.

30

More math/vampire jokes, please.

32

our punctuation policing reveals only our age

32

@28: I'm glad you concur that someone's political dispositions shouldn't be taken into account in evaluating their believability in a sexual assault case.

33

@Raindrop; As blip stated by your logic former President Bill Clinton is completely innocent, also by your logic so is O.J. Simpson completely innocent of the double murder he was accused of.

34

Did Phoenix Jones sell a guy some clean actual MDMA? That's superhero behavior right there.

35

@29:As tempting as it is, just let those galling squeezer-ins, to go ahead and squeeze in. Bad karma always catches up with them anyway.

36

Very true raindrop @ 35. Your rhetoric and choice of words once again reveal your true asshole self despite the pseudo fair and balanced smarty façade.

37

It should be noted that Netanyahu’s indictment comes from an attorney general who used to be his own personal lawyer and cut him and his wife plenty slack during the current legal process. That the lawyer used to be a close friend coming from a family known for its strong right-wing roots does not stop Netanyahu from claiming he is a victim of a witch hunt orchestrated by leftists and the media.

38

I suspect Kobe Bryant’s reputation may very well go in the same arc as Michael Jackson.

39

"Homocide"??

40

This just shows how deeply gentrification has sunk into Seattle. Twenty years ago, a Seattle superhero would have sold heroin, not MDMA.

We’re turning into a massive suburb full of raver kids.

41

@33: Blip pointed out the fallacy of projecting guilt based on one's politics. I concurred.
@36: Well, if I applied that same word to Paula Jones I hardly think here would call me out on it. Go figure.

43

@42: Oh blip, the point you almost made failed with:

"who leveraged her accusations as a political weapon"

You're projecting Bill's accusers as leveraging their accusations as a political weapon (just because Trump had them onstage during one of the 2016 debates I suppose) but why should that matter? I thought we concurred that politics shouldn't cloud judgment.

Bill Clinton was Attorney General of Arkansas at the time he thrust Juanita onto that motel bed and bit her lip, caused it to bleed, and advised her to put some ice on it as he left out the door. Pretty intimidating for her to go to the police after that.

Regardless, it's sad that whenever a famous person dies who has an unresolved sexual allegation, the death seems to trigger the vindictiveness of those who want to throw cold water on those who are mourning the loss.

44

raindrop @ 41
Rest Assured, you would have retained your well-earned asshole status regardless.

46

Are you actually now saying Juanita's attacks on Hillary have something to do with her believability?

It would be impertinent to accuse me of inconsistency when all this is about is just disparaging Kobe Bryant by those trying to claim the mantle of rape awareness or victims' rights, which only seems to be of interest when said person dies.

47

"Police take Phoenix Jones down a notch for succeeding where they fail. Seattle is unsurprised.

49

We're always good here blip!

50

MDMA? I used to watch that telethon every year...

51

@1 &@7 Original Andrew for the WIN. Let the pig roasting begin, baybee!!!
@5: Stop mistaking FOX-TeeVee for a reliable news source, Doofy.
@24: Quit while you're seven centuries behind, sugarlips.
