The incompetence is a given. The cruelty and the harm are the bonus side effects (for them). Trump does not got give a shit about how many people get sick or how many people die. He, his administration, and the GOP are still working to destroy access to health care for people in this country. All Trump cares about is being able to brag about the stock market and continuing to squat in the White House. Everything and everyone else is irrelevant to him.

We all say that when the team we hate politicizes the disease, but then turn around and think other things are more important when our own team politicizes the disease, or when we do so ourselves, even.

In a better world, we'd only be allowed to say "don't politicize the disease" after criticizing our own preferred politicians' politicization of the disease.
