It is crazy how it takes an epidemic to actually get politicians (left and right) to actually propose a just taxing policy. Trump proposes a payroll tax (wonderful -- make up the loss in revenue by increasing income/capital gain/wealth taxes). Now the mayor proposes lowering B and O taxes (great, now how about a capital gains tax and/or an income tax). I'm not complaining, in both cases it is good policy; but fuck, why not have a sensible tax policy from the get go. That goes for the other (quite sensible) proposals. Small businesses are being hit hard by this thing, but they've been hit hard by many things (increasing rent, high credit card processing fees, etc.).
