A perfect opportunity for Democrats to replicate the State Treasurer debacle of 4 years ago. Cast of thousand Democrats vs. two Republican candidates = a November ballot with only Republicans to select from. Thank you Top Two primary. The only solution is for Party leaders to do some serious head-knocking, something our genteel politics normally avoids.

Franciscans make beer. Jesuits make wine. Also, Hobbs is not really a Democrat and never has been. He just runs as one.

@4 - you're thinking of Tim Sheldon, who calls himself a Democrat but actually caucuses with the Republicans.

There are several Democrats in Olympia who differ with their party on one or two issues, but Hobbs has had plenty of chances to 'do a Rodney Tom' and didn't flinch.

Hobbs may not be great on carbon-free transportation issues, but he votes the right way the vast majority of the time and actually sponsored legislation to require private insurance to cover abortion care - that's Democrat enough for me.
