Fine by me. Amazon can easily afford it and the recipients could really use it.

In Australia our unions fought for and won $1500 a week for stood down workers, to be paid by the Fed Govt, for six months, via employers. Others, those let go, will be on unemployment benefits of $1100 a fortnight, up a few hundred from what it was before. There is a freeze on evictions for six months, and banks are deferring business loans / mortgages, though interest incurred.
It can be done and needs to be done. Or what? You leave people to riot.

This isn’t an Amazon tax. It’s a tax on 800 different companies that raises 500M a year indefinitely. The COVID relief and “Amazon Tax” spin is pure marketing and like a lot of marketing, it’s a total lie.

For reference, the entire general fund of Seattle’s budget is $1.4B. This tax raises that by 35% with little to no discussion on how we should spend those dollars.

Just give the poor and homeless and junkies cash. They need it and they'll use it.
