The Republicans are going to do everything they can to remain in power the only way they are able to (suppressing the vote, cheating, lying, interfering, destroying democracy), including killing as many people as possible. They are true nihilists because they somehow believe they can destroy everything and still remain wealthy and powerful.

wrong link on 'brown creeper'

5

I do believe you've got the wrong link to the "brown creeper" blog post. Think this is what you'd meant to link...

https://westseattleblog.com/2020/04/west-seattle-birds-more-spring-sightings/

(And I'll confess to being a bit bummed that the "brown creeper" wasn't some sicko walking around town flashing people while incorporating some elements of poop fetish into his perversion. Maybe next time Savage posts a slog AM roundup.)

6

And you know I'm damn sure @4 was thinking the same thing as me.

7

Actually, given that people have nothing to do BUT stand in line and wait to vote (with masks on and proper distancing), this gambit by the Republicans may backfire on them, spectacularly.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/07/us/politics/wisconsin-primary-election.html

8

@6 - yep

9

The Brown Creeper link is incorrect.

13

People risk being raped and murdered to vote in Iraq and other war torn countries. Americans cant even handle this.

15

@13: False equivalency.

16

Donald Doorknob, David in Shoreline and the esteemed Dr Nelson, he of the groundbreaking herbal cure that'll rid our society of those persistent vaginal and testicular warts and ailments once and for all. This is truly the infectious disease and medical response team our society richly deserves. More power to all three of them, I say!

18

@13 yet this country is not a war torn country is it? It's just in the stranglehold of a science denying deranged lunatic who does not give a shit about its people dying (he did take an oath when sworn into his job, an oath he has failed to uphold from day one). purposely putting citizens in danger of contracting an infectious disease that they can easily spread and for which there is no treatment or cure, when these same citizens could vote by absentee is not the same thing as being a citizen in a war torn country where voting is literally life or death.

The United States is on trajectory to suffer more sickness, more dying, and more economic harm from this virus than any other comparably developed country.

"I don’t take responsibility at all,” said President Donald Trump in the Rose Garden on March 13. Those words will probably end up as the epitaph of his presidency, the single sentence that sums it all up.

Anybody else think it’s weird that the president is pushing an untested drug made by a company he owns during a pandemic as the only cure or nah?

22

"On Tuesday, Axios published internal White House memos that make the statements from President Donald Trump downplaying the coronavirus before it became a full-blown crisis look even more willfully ignorant.

A February 23 memo labeled as a 'MEMORANDUM TO PRESIDENT' sent through the National Security Agency, then-acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, and the Covid-19 task force warns in its very first sentence that '[t]here is an increasing probability of a full-blown COVID-19 pandemic that could infect as many as 100 million Americans, with a loss of life of as many as 1-2 million souls.”

Three days later, however, Trump held a news conference in which he suggested the coronavirus would soon go away on its own in the United States.

'When you have 15 [coronavirus cases], and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero, that’s a pretty good job we’ve done,' Trump said."

As all the 'Winning' turns into a Massive Bodycount, Shorline Dave continues to heap UN-earned Praise on Fake "prez." It's almost as if some people WANT us all to Lose.

Give him the Gold Star already, Shoreline.
He's More than Earned it.

24

How many years have we been voting by mail now?
Does anyone else find it medieval to be standing in line in the cold, risking disease just to vote?
Why are these states not adopting vote-by-mail?
Is it simply a Republican attempt to suppress voting? What else could it be?
The trials have been run, the verdict is in.
It is a no-brainer. Willful stupidity not to adopt it.
Unfathomable.

28

Oh, and if by 'stable genius'
you mean no one could 'clean'
a stall quite like The trumpf, you
may be correct. That guy can really
Wallow in it.

But, as the assumed 'Leader of the Free World' he's the World's Biggest Loser; making, by default, all the rest of us losers, too.

MakingAmericaGrieveAgain
thnx 4 nuthin.

29

@25 it was already reported that Sen. David Perdue (R-Ga.) did just that.

30

What an utterly predictable outcome, for anyone that knows even the barest shred of information about modern republicans in Wisconsin.

Listening to the news this morning, the local reporter on NPR said that the motion to delay the primary was "gaveled out" in LESS THAN 30 SECONDS after it had been gaveled in.

32

omfg
trumpfy just brought
Cruise Missles to
Iraq pointed
at Iran.

In Time of Pandemic
'prez" launches War

ANOTHER Win!
Now, who's got Kids they'll
willingly Donate to trumpfy's
desperate, mad Dash to Re-Election?

Step right up and Sacrifce for "prez."
Another far, far, FAR right Ideologist (or Opportunist) bringing Fascism to America.

And, he's got the Courts, the Senate and a bunch of overly-well-Armed Special Servants standing right behind him.

33

@21: Given that OBL was planning prior to the 2000 election, Al Gore would have had those same ~3000 deaths.

35

@32 -- shoot
Allmost forgot the
trolling trollyTrolls!
You too! Fuck off!

36

If you don't want your Mormons to expand, stop feeding them! Thanks, I'll show myself out.

38

Fuck off, Shorline. If I was running The Show I'd know I'm not Remotely capable of running the Fucking Show and'd Happily pay* Top Dollar for The Best Minds in America to come in and figure this Fucker the fuck out.

Conversely, I never would have kicked the Pandemic Specialists the Fuck OUT in the1st fucking place. (Winner!)

But hire people solely because they like sucking your dick?
(not that there's Anything wrong wiith it)!
YES 'men' who only wanna know how hard?

How 'bout, infuckingstead, we Solve the Problem?
Or is actual Winning too much to ask?

Like Oliver, asking for More?
No, thanks, Shorline.

*pay Top Dollar but have
someone there Smart Enough
convincing them not to take a nickle.

38

Yes, there was a lot of chatter. But nobody knew what was coming. You can't fault 'W for not imagining that 747s would be flown into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

41

@rainy -- I see you're keeping up with your History Re-visioning skills. Well, good on ya there. Who couldda Known, indeedy.

bush ignored too many Serious warnings
you could see it in his eyes while
pretending to be reading
My Pet Goat to those
shoolchildren.

Another chicken-hawk War monger.

43

But, Credit where it's Due -- bush used 9/11 to launch TWO illegal Wars, AND the Orewellianly-named Patriot Act.

MORE Winning!

44

@41: When you think about that scene, what would you have wanted him to do? Rise up with his hair on fire and scream 'We're being attacked!" and scared all those little kiddies? A minute or two of delay was prudent and didn't change a darn thing.

45

@7

Was also musing about Wisconsin but I think it'll backfire for a different reason.

The WI Supreme Court justices are elected majority (not appointed) Republicans. I think their effort at voter suppression is going to blow up in their faces when COVID spikes in two weeks there.

This hopefully will prompt for a national outcry for mail-in voting, which is Kryptonite for Republicans.

47

@46: No, it was a shocked look. Your preferred adjective may vary.

48

Bush choked under pressure just like during Katrina.

49

@18 xina for the WIN! Trumpty Dumpty hasn't taken any responsibility since Day One.
@24 kallipugos: I share your curiosity.
@34: Quit while you're 250 years behind, Doofy.
@44: Rainy, see my comment @34.
@45 CPN; We can only hope.
