Probably the same thing you see at everyone of these meetings, a bunch of fuck ups and gender studies majors demanding someone else pay their rent.

COVID or no COVID.

@2 Amazons payroll tax could be 50% and it could still afford to create however many jobs it wanted to. And Bezos would still be infinitely wealthy. Greed and sociopathy in the C-suite prevent job creation, not taxes.

High praise for the Mayor and Councilmember Pedersen for not being intimidated by Sawant's and Morales' ostensible moral high ground. Support for the "Tax Amazon" proposal should not be a litmus test to see if one is a "real" (i.e, Sawant-approved) progressive. Don't be intimidated, Mayor Durkan and Councilmember Pedersen, by the insults and noise that you already know to expect from Sawant, The Stranger, and many others who conflate this bill with compassion. It's badly crafted and likely to be far more destructive than helpful. Many, many citizens of Seattle oppose this plan--and not because they are mean, selfish, corporate tools. Do what is right, Mayor, not what might win you a few moments of grudging conciliation from Sawant.

@ 5. Yes. And you have friends: many people see through Sawant's self-congratulation behind her mask of moral pretense.

Fuck Amazon and Seattle's Stockholm Syndrome!!!!

But in fairness, a big ol' picture is the only kind of picture os Sawant there its;
GAWD, HAVE YOU SEEN THE SIZE OF HER ASS?

Do you provide your Employess with a safe workplace, PPE, and paid time off (should they catch the virus) -- oh, and Healthcare -- or are you The Richest Man in America?

Good reporting, Nathalie. Soon it’ll be time for you to leave the nest and work for a real news organization.

Let's assume this passes. Will companies move to the eastside? Yes. Will the money be spent effectively and solve real problems? No and maybe. Will it encourage more jobs in Seattle? Only by redistributing money to some future mix of agencies, non-profits and other groups with no common principles or metrics in place.

I like the idea in theory, but it would be a disaster in practice and set the cause back.
