They're flat out wrong. Kick their asses and their baseless lawsuit to the curb.

Covid-19 is way, way worse than the flu
It’s more contagious, deadlier, sneakier, and more likely to cause chaos.

If we compare, for instance, the number of people who died in the United States from COVID-19 in the second full week of April to the number of people who died from influenza during the worst week of the past seven flu seasons (as reported to the CDC), we find that the novel coronavirus killed between 9.5 and 44 times more people than seasonal flu. In other words, the coronavirus is not anything like the flu: It is much, much worse.

These are the stories of the people on the front lines. These are the people who are experiencing this horror show front and center. These are the voices that need to be heard.

In Harm’s Way

As countries ease restrictions on public life, health care workers around the world continue to risk their lives — and those of their families — to fight the coronavirus pandemic. Despite their stoic selfies, they feel scared, grief-stricken, guilty they can’t do more. In submissions and interviews, they reflect on what they have witnessed, the decisions they have made and how the pandemic has changed them.

ALSO: If we had tests, we could go outside. Protest that.

4

Five bucks says this lawsuit wasn't serious in the first place and was filed only to look good for these idiots' campaign material. "We challenged Jay Inslee, and the Deep State shut down OUR TRUTH" or somesuch dribble.

5

Anyone have any legal analysis here?

7

“I think the answer is this: for everyone who wants to get out there right now with no mask or gloves, distancing or testing to help beat this thing, then I propose they sign a pandemic version of a DNR — Do Not Resuscitate order.

This would be a COVID-19 DNT — Do Not Treat order. This way, your willful ignorance (or greed) does not put a health care worker, first responder, or their families at risk. Print it, sign it, put it in your wallet and tape it to your front door.

If the impatient, hoax believing, don't stomp my freedom, selfish brats out there want to go do their thing during a dangerous crisis, then do it with the expectation that if you get sick, no one else has to pay the price for your irresponsible behavior. “

These assholes' arguments boil down to 1) the virus only kills old people, 2) there is some kind of conspiracy to avoid giving us the information about who is being affected (somehow the Health Department is refusing to let us know that it is mostly seniors who are being affected, despite that fact that by some miracle we all know that), and 3) it's all better now so there is no reason for any more restrictions.

SO, just another group of Republicans who have no trouble killing Grandma if it will help them make a buck. Incidentally, according to the complaint, the businesses these guys own include Lake Bowl and the Dock Eatery. Just in case anyone's in a boycotting mood once this all blows over.

11

A clarification: The restaurants owned by our fine plaintiff are The Dock Bar and Eatery and Smokin' Mo's. Lake Bowl is owned by a second plaintiff . I know nothing about any of these except that they are owned by pandemic enthusiasts.

@8 - thank you for your carefully reasoned explanation of why Jay Inslee is not a good governor. I especially liked the extensive examples of things he has done wrong that you gave.

Oh, wait, you didn't provide any of that. Just the very clever word "pedocrat." Boy, you are really really smart. Not to mention a tiny bit racist, with that remark about hugging Chinese people. BTW, the last report I saw suggested that most of the virus in this country traces back to Europe. You know, that continent with all those white people.

13

Way to give them the attention they are seeking Rich. Excellent work there.

14

@4:

OTOH every penny they spend on paying lawyers to file frivolous lawsuits is one less penny they'll be spending on their campaigns, so that's an upside IMO.

22

What about MY freedom to NOT GET their stupid disease? Why don't these dunder-headed reptile-o-cans ever talk about THAT freedom?

@20 - Huh. You'd think that taking the 15th spot in World's Worst Pandemics ---in only 5 months--- would earn SARS-CoV-2 a little more respect. Hell, even just the death toll in the USofA alone ranks in at the 17th spot.

Y'know, another option would be using the Treasury to create, I dunno, $4-6 Trillion more in free cash ---just like they did to prop up "shareholder value" for the,, 3rd time now?--- and distribute $2000/adult/month, and $1000/child/mo to all citizens. They've ALREADY created so much new cash they could do that for 10 months straight without flinching. That would get some economy moving again, no? ... why not give it to people that are, as you rightly note, actually suffering due to no-work?

Seems like a pretty solid Option 3 to me. But nooooo Reptile-in-Chief won't do that. He's got the perfect smokescreen to commit crimes behind. Why would he help out the little people? They can just go die with some weird blot-clotting disease or something.

Massive suffering and loss-of-life, you say... 72,812 dead? Not enough. Let's go for more, Right DDDadddy? Yeah, let's do the more-dying thing.

25

@16 - For someone who supposedly has a PhD and who specializes in statistical and computer modeling, you're pretty bad at percentages. 3% is written as .03, .5 is 50%. Oh, and btw, the current US infection rate/death rate is about 6% (based on 1.25 million confirmed cases, 73.667 confirmed deaths).

According to the CDC, scientists do not yet know the actual death rate, most of the experts I've seen quoted estimate the death rate will be higher than expected. Even Trumps people are predicting we'll be at 3,000 deaths per day by the end of June. Your claim that the death rate's been established so soon after the first wave of infection sheds doubt on your credentials at the very least.

26

@20 - I just ran some numbers for the "herd immunity" you want to achieve by getting everybody sick. That would mean somewhere around 2,000,000 people ---in the USA alone--- would probably die. +/- 500,000.

That sure sounds like massive suffering and loss-of-life to me, but that's what you want, right?

30

@27 - don't forget the multiplier effect. That 2 million dead will create countless jobs in the coffin, gravedigging, and cremation industries. Might be just the shot in the arm that our new human creation infrastructure needs to get rolling!

31

dammit. "Human composting infrastructure." That's what I get for mutlitasking. Our human creation infrastructure has already been WAY too active.
