Dr. Fauci Warns Of Needless Suffering And Death If America Allowed To Continue

WASHINGTON—Emphasizing the dire consequences should the sovereign nation remain in existence, NIAID director Dr. Anthony Fauci warned the public Tuesday of needless suffering and death if America were allowed to continue. “Let me be clear, if the United States of America persists into 2021, not only will many people die, but left unchecked, this federal republic will unleash untold destruction on the world,” said Fauci, adding that the North American country was already too far out of control…“Unfortunately, I can tell you that over the past hundreds of years, we’ve already witnessed the terrible, global consequences of the American experiment firsthand…”

At press time, Fauci urged the public not to underestimate the nation as it had already killed too many people to count.

How tragic it would be coming down with covid-19 and not being able to cuddle with your kitty.

3

British Columbia has basically kicked COVID-19's ass. Makes sense that they wouldn't want Americans up there. Build the wall.

4

That Robert Pattison interview was an arid wasteland, 5 minutes of my life I will never get back.
America is stuck at home with no sports and boring celebrities.

5

Just another horrendous link to the murderous Saudi government. Bone saw, hijackers, what's next? Way past time to cut these bastards off from any US aid. Would be better to cut them off from their heads, frankly.

6

@ 5,

Yeah, the Big Lie that Saudi Arabia is our ally, rather than our enemy, after they attacked us on 9/11 is an even more depraved and sinister whopper than "Iraq has weapons of mass destruction."

7

@5/6:

So long as fossil fuels drive the engine of the planet the Saudis will be able to literally get away with murder - and the U.S. will continue to turn a blind eye, even when it's our own citizens being murdered.

8

@ 7,

Too true. All of America's soulless, sadistic rulers are in bed with the Saudis and share their class interests against us, which is why they perpetuate this particular Big Lie. It's not just the Tr666ps and Ku$hners, either.

Bill Gates, for example, is a 50% co-owner with Saudi Arabia of the Four Seasons resort and hotel management chain, but no one has ever asked him about why that is when the KSA commits war crimes, treats women like housecats, and brutally murders their LGBT citizens, political, and religious dissidents.

It'd be rude to mention it, I guess.

9

@8: Well, then be the first one. I suggest contacting the Gates Foundation to start. Perhaps its an investment in a galaxy of portfolios they'd easily git rid of it it came to their attention, or not.

But you won't bother, as it's a great talking point for the billionaire bigot crowd.

12

@10: David, it's possible to be a conservative and be against geological harm at the same time. No, God does NOT bless fracking.

15

@11,13 If you're going to steal all your shit word for word from others, at least cite your sources you worthless piece of shit.

20

So great that Trump is using the COVID-19 crisis that he created to get all of his cronies released from prison. /s

22

The COVID-19 crisis demands we clear out our prisons of non-violent offenders as much as possible, cronyism has nothing to do with it.

Some good news on food going from farms to those who need it:

"In the last three weeks, FarmLink has delivered over 250,000 pounds of food," he said. "Our goal is to move 1 million pounds by the end of the month."
https://abcnews.go.com/US/college-students-effort-save-farms-food-families/story?id=70647794&cid=clicksource_4380645_20_big_feature_bf_hed

https://farmlinkproject.org/
Who are we?
The COVID-19 pandemic has closed restaurants and disrupted the farms and farmers that serve them. The food normally destined for restaurants is heading to the landfill. At the same time, lines at food banks are longer than ever.

FarmLink is a not-for-profit grassroots movement that connects farms with food banks to feed thousands in need while supporting essential jobs. We fundraise externally to acquire surplus produce from farms and suppliers and pay transportation costs in order to deliver fresh food to food banks in need.

FarmLink is fiscally sponsored by Food Finders (Tax ID: 33-0412749). Read more about our partnership on our About Us page.

@26 - No, it is not. I think that about 83,000 dead Americans and untold numbers in other countries would disagree with you. All of you plague enthusiasts bleating about "the economy, the economy, suicide" have yet to produce any figures actually showing that the lockdown is actually killing anyone. It may inconvenience a lot of us, and will surely cost people some money. Those who are truly put at financial risk (i.e., losing their homes, etc.) need to be helped out by society, as the lockdown is being done in order to protect all of us. We have started doing that and need to do more. But there has been no showing yet that the "cure" is worse than the virus.

I am sorry that you have to show up at the protests without getting your hair cut first, though. Must be hell.

31

So far, TRUMPVID-19 has killed more Americans (the U.S. death toll is currently at 83,953) than casualties from the Vietnam War, Gulf War, Iraq War, and Afghanistan War COMBINED, and all in less than three months. The "Weapons of Mass Destruction" are obviously the penises of arrogant RepubliKKKan men.
@23 & @26: You'd better contact your primary care physician pronto, Amy. You and your ilk are already dying of TRUMPVID-19. Life for you must be hell when the only good that idiotic MAGA cap of yours does is cover bald spots.

32

@10: Your bald spot is showing, Doofy, even with your MAGA cap on.
HInt: TRUMPVID-19 ISN'T going to save you or any of your ilk.

34

Nathalie. Just buy your own damn scooter please so we can stop hearing about it!

35

@22 Do you not really believe the bullshit you put down here? There were no COVID-19 cases where Paul Manafort was serving his time. One story of one person in Rikers from the virus: he was there for a parole violation.

There are tons of stories about how people are dying in prisons and they are not all violent offenders. Even with orders coming from some governors (like in NJ) for all non-violent offenders to be released, a mere fraction actually have been released.

Paul Manafort was released because of his relationship with Trump. Paul Manafort was released because of male white (wealth) and privilege.

Facts matter.

36

do you really believe?

"The United States continues to lead the world in COVID-19 infections, with researchers at Johns Hopkins recording 1,894 deaths from the disease in just 24 hours Tuesday — a sharp increase from earlier this week.

The official U.S. death toll now stands at over 82,300. On Capitol Hill, the nation’s top infectious disease experts told a Senate committee Tuesday that needless death and suffering would result if states reopen their economies too soon.

Dr. Anthony Fauci: “There is a real risk that you will trigger an outbreak that you may not be able to control, which, in fact, paradoxically, will set you back, not only leading to some suffering and death that could be avoided, but could even set you back on the road to trying to get economic recovery.”

Dr. Fauci acknowledged the true U.S. death toll is “almost certainly” higher than the official count.

He also dismissed the idea that a vaccine would be available in time for children to return to classes in the fall, and questioned whether any vaccine will eventually prove effective against the coronavirus.

On Tuesday, NBC News published an unreleased White House report showing a surge of coronavirus cases in heartland U.S. communities.

Topping the list was Central City, Kentucky. Other hot spots include Nashville, Tennessee; Des Moines, Iowa; and Amarillo, Texas. The leaked May 7 coronavirus task force report contradicts this claim made by President Trump on Monday.

President Donald Trump: 'All throughout the country, the numbers are coming down rapidly.'" --6 Pinocchios

@30 - many of the deaths during the Great Recession (and that are continuing) were due to opiate overdoses. According to those libtard Anti-Trump liars at CDC who live to infringe your constitutional rights, the rate didn't really show that much of an increase in the Great Recession years - the big jump came after: https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/products/databriefs/db356.htm
As for suicide, according to the AmericanSociety for Suicide Prevention, the suicide rate in this country has been increasing since 2008, even after the Great Recession ended. see: https://afsp.org/suicide-statistics/ This data does not support a massive increase in suicides during the recession.

Also, would you not expect to see an increase in suicides (and perhaps drug overdoses) if hundreds of thousands of people are forced to watch their family and friends dying preventable deaths? No one seems to think too hard about this when they squeal about how a bad economy is going to kill people.

Again, I am not seeing numbers showing increased "deaths of despair" in anything approaching the number that have been and will be killed by the virus. I know, I know, a lot of the virus deaths were old and would have died within a few years anyway. Not sure that is really a great argument - might be fairer to ask the average 80-year-old how willing they are to kick the bucket so you can go bowling or get a massage or whatever the hell is so important in the states that are reopening with wild abandon.

@10:

Dude, renewables passed nuclear as a percentage of total world energy consumption back in the early 2000's. Currently renewables represent roughly one-quarter of total world consumption and keeps increasing by the year, while oil is rapidly decreasing it's share and the pandemic is causing it to plummet even further, even if it turns out to be a somewhat short-term adjustment. But, with more people probably working from home for some time, demand is going to remain depressed.

40

@23:

Since when did you start giving a shit about the lower class workers? Usually you're the one telling them to quit bitching about their low wages and get a better job.

41

@35: No COVID-19 cases YET there, xina.

But even if Manafort got some leeway. He has been punished enough and it's time he be reunited with his family.

42

Speaking of Deaths of Dispair:

Dr. Anthony Fauci: “There is a real risk that you will trigger an outbreak that you may not be able to control, which, in fact, paradoxically, will set you back, not only leading to some suffering and death that could be avoided, but could even set you back on the road to trying to get economic recovery.”

Do we really really wanna Delay
an Economic Recovery, lads?

If you're hurting Financially
have that far right wing Mcconnel
kick some down to WE, the Peeps and
WE'll keep the economic embers burning.

Say, aren't they Shoveling TRILLIONS down Wall Street?
Corporate Welfare steals from the Citizenry
and NO they're NOT people even
if Mittens says they are.

They have no Soul
and not 'cause
they Sold it

43

@41 He has not been punished enough and should have at the very least spent his extremely lenient sentence in prison.

Manafort Walks. His Fellow Inmate Is Facing 12 More Years.

David Barren, a fellow inmate at Loretto, isn’t Paul Manafort. He’s African-American. He never worked as a powerful Republican lobbyist or the president’s former campaign manager. And he didn’t commit millions of dollars of tax fraud, violate federal lobbying rules, or commit witness tampering while awaiting trial.

Instead, Barren committed non-violent drug offenses and got a sentence of life plus 20 years.

44

Freedom is just another word for
having lots of money.

45

@43: Yes, you can point to injustices by comparison. But that's not the point. Our courts have never been perfect, it never will be. Manafort remining in prison doesn't improve the system or help anyone's judicial fate. Every care is decided individually.

At this point, it's just vengeance wanting him to remain in prison.
