All this presumes that the Cascadian super state won't just secede and liquidate Amazon to pay for the renewable high speed rail infrastructure required.

@3: Do you ejaculate when you post a YouTube link?

This article is chocked full of opinions and assumptions that are stated as "facts." It may be that the reason that the Midwest and Southern states are doing better with the virus than the cities is that they are much less densely populated. Pandemics and plagues are notoriously hard on cities, right? In the Heartland, the hot spots have been cities, meat processing plants, nursing homes and prisons. Bubba in Biloxi has been doing okay.

Suppose that this guy has got it right:
"The nation could face 'the darkest winter in modern history' if the coronavirus rebounds later this year, a whistleblower told a House committee Thursday." {Rick Bright}

If so, the timing of when the economy opens won't matter nearly as much as the population density of where it opens.

We just don't know.

@5 Brilliant.

11

Amy dear, I would love to be a Canadian!!! This is a garbage country

13

Finally this is the true end of Capitalism for sure.

Meanwhile, Inslee said this current/upcoming recession is an opportunity. Gee, I wonder what he ment.

14

I can't wait for the day when he becomes a trilionaire. I imagine all the little socialist shits heads' will explode like a scene from Scanners. Here's hoping.

15

Like a scene from
Children of Men
you mean

remember
where they're jumping
off the Fullfillmenting Center?

18

@15- I know what I meant.

19

you know what will REALLY make amazon/Bezos a bazillionaire? people continuing to buy stuff from the company!

i agree its insane that they pay zero taxes (same with boeing) but for all the hand wringing and teeth gnashing about amazon there is a huge percentage of folks that order stuff from them all the time. put your money where your mouth is...

20

Really? Straight from the title, you are basically condemning the state following science to save lives. The only thing Inslee did or is doing wrong was waiting too long in the first place and thinking the federal government would have our back. "Bezos is a bad person" isn't a headline and it's not Inslee's fault.

That said, thank goodness someone competent, if greedy, was able to step in and keep us afloat in this crisis, instead of talking about rat feelings and bizarro philosophy AND ATTACKING DECISIONS BASED ON SCIENCE THAT SAVED LIVES. I think I am done with anything Mudede, including any inclination to "help support The Stranger" for at least a while.

@18 -- when ONE man OWNS the World
you'll know what you meant. Or
you won't.

22

NOBODY is worth $1 trillion. NOBODY.

23

@22- you are correct, no-one is a trillionaire, yet.
