Trump's speech today is the exact reason 2nd Amendment nutters say they need guns. And yet they will cheer him on.

Also, police started assaulting people about 20 minutes before Trump even came on. With rubber bullets and tear gas. People who were protesting peacefully and were not in violation of curfew.

Republican'ts are horrible people

The video of Trump with the bible is pretty funny, he is handling it like he'd never seen one before and wasn't sure what it was. I don't suppose he has, but for a TV "star" he's not much of an actor.
If one was in a snarky mood one might even say it looked like he was not 100% sure he wasn't going to burst into flames touching the thing. but that would be a cheap shot and a bit premature; Matthew 19:23
Assuming that "ten years" is more of Trumps projection, it is surprisingly self aware of him to realise that would be a light sentence for him, but he is already 73, so ten years is not trivial, though I'd suppose he expects house confinement at Mar Lago.

Just like everything else Trump does not believe in, protesting is protected by the Constitution You know what is not? Using the National Guard to get rid of a crowd of protesters outside the White House so you can trespass on a church's property, without their knowledge or permission, to take photos with a Bible for PR for your re-election campaign as the "law and order" president.

@1, how soon we forget: https://www.amnestyusa.org/is-it-legal-for-the-u-s-to-kill-a-16-year-old-u-s-citizen-with-a-drone/

It's still the Year of the Rat - a big Orange Rat!
Trump acting like a reincarnation of law-and-order Tricky Dick will not get him re-elected. He's already losing support from the over 55 crowd.
In the meantime, we get rat-fucked until he is voted out of office.

13

@9 Its inevitable that criminals are going to take advantage of an opportunity to do crimes. But I don't see how that "ruins" anything. And I imagine they don't give a rat's ass about anybody's memory either.

The other thing they are doing is creating an opportunity in turn for disingenuous assholes to change the subject away from the original cause of the protests.

14

Here we go, next trump will probably declare himself supreme ruler and cancel the election.

That bible stunt made me laugh out loud. Him just grimacing like he just soiled his diaper while holding a book at arm’s length. I don’t think that was a bible he was holding. I think it was an old Reader’s Digest Condensed Book collection left over from the Reagan Administration.

16

@15: No, their bible for the inauguration is in the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute in Simi Valley, CA.

But yeah, what "Great Leader" doesn't clear out the odd Park packed full of peaceful protesters for a photo opportunity designed to make him look almost Presidential?

@12 You mean like all of the police reforms the Obama administration went after and oversight they put in place to work on the problem that Trump (like everything else he's done to undue Obama's presidency, because that is the only reason he exists? You might want to look into that before writing a bunch of bullshit.

Under Obama, the Justice Department aggressively pursued police reforms.

Trump Killed Obama’s Police Reforms. Now He’s Getting What He Asked For.

But Obama!!!! Why, like everything else is Obama held responsible for the horrific things that everything has ever happened, ever? He was one president who served for 8 years. He did not end 400 years or white supremacist terrorism, so he's a failure. It's truly absurd what is leveled at him as failure while all of the white men who have been in that office get a pass.

White supremacist terrorism and all that entails (including the murder of black people by cops) is a WHITE PEOPLE THING. WHITE PEOPLE NEED TO DISMANTLE AND DESTROY IT. PERIOD. FULL STOP. Until white people demand that white people, including the state sanctioned and taxpayer paid lynch mobs known as local law enforcement (that this country has armed to the teeth with extraneous military gear the Pentagon buys with its bloated budget, but does not need) stop abusing, harassing, and murdering black people and create an equal and just society, this will not end. White people are the problem. White people are the problem. White people are the problem. Louder for the people in the back. WHITE PEOPLE ARE THE PROBLEM.

As the majority of people in this country, especially the majority of people holding positions of power are white and they refuse to do what needs to be done to denounce, fire, prosecute, and imprison cops who kill, let alone do what needs to be done to dismantle and destroy the entire system of white supremacist terrorism, change is unlikely to happen anytime soon and it will come with violence and bloodshed and a viciousness like any other revolutionary change, because that's how things happen.

White people can do all of the hand wringing they want about looting and rioting, etc. but until they choose to care about black lives the same way they care about their own, they are the problem.

@xina -- another Bingo.

"Until the right to avoid public execution
by the police on suspicion of passing a
fake $20 is upheld as dutifully as the right
to carry assault weapons while occupying
government buildings these protests should
continue."
