I'm almost afraid to ask, but what does "defund the police" mean? A plain interpretation of the word "defund" would mean abolishing the police root and branch because with no funds, there's no department. Is that what this refers to?

I've seen some stuff from Minneapolis where they are talking about replacing the Police Department with some other bureaucratic arrangement. Which implies that various of a PD's functions would still be carried out by the civil service, but there wouldn't be a Minneapolis Police Department. Which seems an entirely plausible path to real reform to me.

So maybe "defund the police" is something more like that?

Anybody know?

@2 - What about overtime during the next earthquake?

4

@2 Fine with me, I guess. If the one would lead to the other.

I was reluctant to ask because maybe its more a slogan.

Meanwhile I just walked by a black dude sitting on the sidewalk, speaking to himself incoherently, his legs and torso moving uncontrollably.

It sure as hell wasn't alcohol withdrawal for me.

Or the legs.

It isn't like I can go pick up a bottle of Twitch-B-Gone from the store and dust him with the stuff, either.

7

@5 and 6 -

why didn't you call EMS? meanwhile, seems callous of you. at best.

8

Callous?

I feel an empathy toward that guy you hopefully never will.

As I said, there's no treatment for the twitch.

9

@8:

So, what did you do? Did you even attempt to call anyone? 911? EMS? Seattle Support Services? Anyone at all? Or did you just continue to stare at a fellow human being clearly in need of help like he was there for your personal amusement?

10

You aren't supposed to call 911 for COVID unless you can't breathe.

Woke-ass fucking jokes, you are.

It's NOVEL. NEW. NO TREATMENT.

I TWITCHED FOR THREE WEEKS. IT SUCKS. HAVE FUN ALL GROUPING TOGETHER GENIUSES.

Or maybe I just went through a living hell, hallucinating and twitching in ambulance world, short of breath, with ambulances literally parked at my front door waiting for the next call multiple times, with an old folk's home right the fuck there, standing in the middle of the street watching people twitching through their windows, walking around watching the homeless twitch, and then you all..

Forgot.

Times reporter it’s a trombone.

The first person I know of who died was an elderly Ethiopian, Eritrean, etc gentleman.

Always wore a tan tweed suit, walked with a cane, would drink tea and usually sit by himself.

He was a relative of a guy I used to serve in Belltown. Always wanted his latte 20 degrees hotter than anyone else. Would blister my mouth but that's what he wanted.

That was in February.

There are like 100 people I'm not going to see again, but at least you guys will be in the bread line.

I went back through in the past few days and made the definitive decision that this is his best album

Old Al looks to be about 110 lbs any more. I yelled at him from my yard the other day, he turned and saluted me.

We just walked around for a month because that's more comfortable than twitching on your side.

But go ahead. Ban Seattle. That'd be gay.
