I hope the 10 year old boy missing in the North Cascades is found, is okay, and safely returned home soon.

WOW---yet another reason to be grateful that I don't have a Twitter account, never opened one, and have no desire to anytime soon.

I wasn't prompted to reset my Twitter password which should have been mandatory on ALL accounts after a hack. Shame on Twitter.

@1: That's great and an important development - but don't expect AM/PM Slog to reflect the most important news of the day. It's only items that strike the interest of the staffer at the time - which makes sense actually because, well, you go to the Seattle Times or the broadcast affiliates if you want comprehensive news - not Slog.

Psst — it's Wiz.

CHOP 2.0, or Mini CHOP, still stands on the south plaza lawn of Seattle Central—for now: Capitol Hill Seattle Blog reports that the school is requesting the camp "be voluntarily cleared in days or the college will turn the matter over to Mayor Jenny Durkan, Seattle City Hall, and SPD."

OK Karen.

7

@6, BLM also hacked Twitter and cut me off in traffic this morning.

8

Raindrop the Twitter issue was not an account hack. Somehow the internal console at Twitter that allows tweeting from any account was compromised. Reseting your password would do nothing. Best case this was a relatively simple compromise for example someone inside that had their credentials compromised. Worst case it’s a state actor doing a dry run.

9

I'm pretty sure it was BLM what gave me that dirty look in the Red Apple Parking lot this morning....

10

Why doesn’t the publication I use to find someone to change my diaper and step on my nuts report on every story I’m interested in? Must have taken the wrong color pill.

RE: Twitter hack

Asking for bitcoins is solid, but it would have been sweeter if they'd requested Apple itunes gift cards instead.

@12 There's nothing that makes cops holier than thou. This always happens in the wake of horrific displays of police brutality, everyone wants their pound of flesh. Blaming the victims is a moral wound.

14

@12,

The story didn't garner so much as a passing mention in the relatively right/center leaning KOIN Portland nightly news broadcast last night, nor is it getting much national press insofar as I've seen. And so while it is indeed unfortunate and tragic, maybe it's omission here isn't quite the outrageous scandal you make it out to be.

In a society awash with guns, people are going to get shot.

Condolences to the friends and family of Jonathan Shoop - another victim of a sick culture.

17

BLM has been going around the city injecting trees with super-steroids that cause them to grow rapidly, buckling adjacent concrete sidewalks and causing me to nearly trip while walking my dog yesterday!

@12 Some commenters like to fantasize that they are law enforcement or military in order to denigrate others. Like the officer I'm ex-military and I saw no disrespect to my brother or his family in this article. Call me an asswipe if you will.

What @18 said.

14 - I was a cop and don't understand why the killing of one would make national news at all. Police incidents are purely of local concern, unless it's something unusually noteworthy such as the two extremes of 4 officers killed in Dallas 4 years ago or the filmed murder of George Floyd 2 months ago.

@12 - While I'd like to see the apprehension of the cop-killer covered in local news outlets, its omission by an alt-weekly's blog does not offend me...even a little.
