Wow, that was a whole opinion of incorrect statements.
-Seattle has it's own eviction moratorium, which currently extends well into 2021.
-Seattle already has just cause eviction protection, has for years.
-Seattle, a landlord cannot evict a tenant even with an expires lease during the covid emergency.
-non-possessory rent. There is not even a definition for what ever the author and his organization WCAN think this is.

WCAN is supposed to be knowledgeable on housing issues. Or, are they just lying, again.

The Stranger is at the fuck-it stage of it's decline. Proof read material for accuracy? Who cares.

@1 My goodness yes how could anyone possibly think the city could ever so much as contemplate establishing a source of revenue other than property taxes. What would that even be. The very notion is nonsensical.

@4 I can see the short-term appeal, but there's a lot of historical evidence to suggest that in the long run killing off 2% of your population turns out to be pretty bad for the economy.

@5 The paper isn't likely to take complaints seriously when they're coming from someone who doesn't seem to understand what the words "guest editorial" mean.

@6: Typically, guest editorials are also reviewed by editors who would work with the author to fix errors and improve accuracy.
