speaking of Law & Order:

“And then the story turned really dark.

“As the virus spread, and businesses had to shut down again and schools and universities were paralyzed as to whether to open or stay closed in the fall, Trump’s poll numbers nose-dived.

"Joe Biden opened up a 15-point lead in a national head-to-head survey.

“So, in a desperate effort to salvage his campaign, Trump turned to the Middle East Dictator’s Official Handbook and found just what he was looking for, the chapter titled, ‘What to Do When Your People Turn Against You?’

“Answer: Turn them against each other and then present yourself as the only source of law and order.”

I can't imagine the NHL wouldn't want to take advantage of the opportunity to call attention to the long and storied history of the league by naming the team the Metropolitans (who won a Stanley Cup over a century ago.) They've also got a great a great retro logo design that could be a fan fave, even if only used as an occasional alternate jersey, viewable here...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seattle_Metropolitans

The only other decent idea I've heard (and granted I've not been paying very close attention) is Cascades, which would be fine and good. I just pray they've not given any serious consideration to Freeze, which actually could probably have some appeal. The Miami Heat seem to have a well respected reputation around the NBA for their nickname, marketing efforts, various logos, etc, and Freeze would be a variation on that, albeit with the allusion to the cold-weather climate history of the game, as well as the cringe-inducing nod to the cities "cold" social reputation.

Just go with Metropolitans or Metros, if you must.

The Seattle BEACONS!

Just a guess based on the teaser. If so, I like it.

6

Defense attorneys for Dawit Kelete parsed a Charles Mudede post into evidence of fake news. I'm impressed.

7

@5,

Interesting. Seems like a bit of a long shot, though I kinda dig it too, FWTW.

I told my friend not to sell seattlekraken.com to a firm in London for 10k. She assured him, "It's not like you've won the lottery or anything".

My thinking being double taxation means it wasn't a legit sales call, rather classic English speculation.

His original thinking was season tickets for life. If you are to go with Kraken I can move him back in that direction.

As soon as the arena name was changed, though, I immediately changed my vote to the Rain Fairies.

Seattle Chop.

10

I'm sticking with the Trolls. Who doesn't like short, mean Scandinavians?

11

It's the Seattle Kraken.

You're welcome.

12

A handyman.

SLOG Poll time!

What's the deal with Inslee's mask?
• The whole thing was PSd in
• He was wearing a white one and they tinted it before posting
• It's legit

Before I married a southern belle I had never heard of "Posse comitatus".Everyone in the South used to love talking bout that shit. Not so much anymore.

19

@18: The more they smash, the more they get the police state they desire. It's a cry for help.

How's Trump going to hold his head up while meeting with dictators if he has to wear a pink mask?

"Republicans are considering a new reduced unemployment benefit proposal: An additional $100 a week through December."

My wife and I both worked during the worse of the epidemic. She is a 65 year old nurse who has worked her entire life. Like me, only drawn un-employment for about a few weeks in her working life She couldn't get a single day off they asked her to stay as other nurses had childcare issues.
She was just furloughed by our local health-care factory when power-point / excel spreadsheet "rangers" utilization's aligned.

Because of her age she is higher risk.and getting another job is unlikely in the short term. She still wants to work, but there aren't any jobs. I would prefer she avoided the healthcare factories because of how they exploit "human capital" though.

So after working through it, risking her life, and possibly infecting me she won't receive the extra $600 a week she is due. We will survive, but is is stressing her out.

Republicans believe in collective punishment and are horrible people. Fuck'em !!

23

@ 22
Yes think like a republican, don't step up and try to make a difference.

I got's mine so fuck everyone else.

25

@23

It's not inconsistent to be paid for stepping up, my wife had to deal with MAGA prats walking into her clinic unannounced with no PPE demanding tests and chloroquine for the last 5 months.

Her Clinic, would treat them in regardless of the posted signs, its $$$ afterall. But no worries McConnell always, empathetic wants to make employers exempt from lawsuits from infected employees.

Good times!

One silver lining, if these Senate Republicans get what they want , it will guarantee a a lot more of their colleagues get to experience unemployment in January.

Imagine crying about trump. Then supporting : Inslee, Sawant, Mosqueda or Durkan. Its hilarious. Do you not see a trend with The quality of life of blue cities right now? The hillbillies in Snohomish look good now that Capitol Hill is filled with knock off nazis screaming blm. Don’t worry tho. Everett is now going to start measuring the noise level of your car exhaust and ticket. Ignore the tent camps and all the feces flinging tweekers walking around looking for stuff to steal.
