I buy a few bottles of mead every year. Mead is generally a sweet wine (duh, it's made from honey). I've got a sweet tooth, so I love mead. Like good candy in a bottle. Sky River is my favorite, and they've got a few variations. Some are as sweet as a desert wine, some are dryer, closer to the sweeter end of white wines. If you have a sweet tooth, you should try mead if you haven't before.
It can be hard to find. I never see mead in general grocery store wine sections. Too specialized, I guess. Ask around. Total Wine is the closest store to me that carries it.
If you live in Seattle Chuck's Hops Shops and Bottleworks usually have at least a few in-stock, sometimes even on-tap. Also, check out your nearest farmers market - I think some of them are still operating now.
And if you've a hankering to do some home brewing it's not that hard to make DIY, if you have the equipment and use a decent strain of yeast; anything that's good for white wine (e.g. Lalvin D-47) will do nicely.
Try the blackberry mead, it's very alcoholic and very tasty!

Thanks for the cool story! Loved reading about the differences in honey based on what the bees are pollinating. Glenda is a true artisan...
