I watched what I could stomach of Trump being interviewed by a member of the press after his over an hour long jerk off Pennsylvania (which I could not stomach to listen to) last night. Not sure I can buy into Putin being willing to risk Russian prestige in spaceflight simply to create a distraction. That type of strategy seems a little oblique for a man like him.
But it is a good question what means he might employ to protect an asset like Trump.

Yeah, Obama's tenure left a lot to be desired, but he catches a ton of undeserved flack from us on the left (and RWNJ's like yourself masquerading as "liberal hippies" for whatever purpose) for circumstances that were beyond his control. There's not a human being on the planet who could've closed Guantanamo given the vast and far reaching obstacles to doing so that existed then and now. He issued an executive order on his third day in office to do just that and attempted several other times during his tenure to take action that would lead to closure, but frustrating political realities reared their ugly head time and again. I will say maybe he shouldn't have been so cavalier in his promises, but it's hard to fault him for being naive of how deeply entrenched obstructionist elements were at the time he was campaigning. This is a short read/listen that goes into just a tiny bit of detail regarding the reality of attempts to relocate detainees.
