Feds killed him. The local law enforcement didn't. That is an important distinction.

5

If he had killed a BLM protestor instead of a right wing nut job, the police would be giving him food and bottled water and thanking him for his service.

6

I'm sure there will conveniently be no body cam footage of this.

7

He said the killing of Aaron Danielson was justified in the vice video. Then why did he flee the scene?

The worst part about this is that people are forming judgements about the killings based on the perceived ideology of its victims.

8

@7, Naw, by far the worst part about this is that two people died. Both were human beings and deserving of dignity.

11

Nice criticism of the cops' incompetence, dipshit in shoreline. Not very blue lives mattersy of you.

13

When you dump tens of millions of guns into a society, somebody's going to get shot. Freedom isn't free and the cost of the right to keep and bear arms is an occasional sacrifice to the Blood God.

20

@8: That is very true.

26

Cops had to revenge the killing of their friend.

It's what they do.

Oh, and I thought you meant to say "repeatedly killing" him.

They never intended to arrest him.

27

@24/@"Michael Forest Reinoehl and Aaron Danielson were both thugs. The world is better off without them."

Oh really? You could look in the eyes of any of their grieving family members and say that?

28

@21 I was curious which 4 or 5 cities had R mayors, but stopped when I saw Phoenix is the 5th largest city in the country by population. When the hell did that happen?

31

The dominance of the Democratic Party in cities is the result of specific historical contingencies - not weird abstractions.

Given where her support comes from, 50 years ago Jenny Durkan would have been a Republican. But the GOP abandoned cities and centered their political base in the suburbs because of what was once called white flight. Then they leveraged fear and loathing of "urban" populations for political gain. They are still doing it today. Right here in this comment thread.

i keep seeing that Patriot Prayer is "far right." compared to what and on what evidence? can we at least refer to PP's street opponents as "far left"? anarchists? etc?

33

@5 That's because your definition of individualism and liberty is being able to be as racist and misogynistic as you want. You are right, we have less tolerance for that bull-shit than Redneckistan does.

34

@32 You want permission? Ok, you have my permission. And welcome to planet Earth. You'll get used to our customs with time.

35

@32 Patriot Prayer is only called far-right by media that uses mild terms to appear more professional. Most sane people call them what they are, a Fascist domestic terrorist group. Their opponents are decent and patriotic Americans of many types, including Anarchists, punk rockers, BLM folks, housewives, mothers, fathers, and students.

45

Will, if you unload on the cops with an assault weapon, they tend to return fire. It's what they do.

47

@38: When someone says they're "conservative", it requires some probing questions. The term has become so malleable and corrupted, in a large part by people who identify with it unfittingly and by those who understand it erroneously.

We see a a growing list of traditional conservatives, George F. Will, Bill Kristol, Colin Powell, John Kasich, George W. Bush, who are voting for Biden or will not vote for Trump. So one would be in error if saying a conservative is the same as being a fascist.

It doesn't appear that there was any effort to arrest Reinoehl alive. It looks like they set up an overwhelming police ambush and as soon as they had him in the clear alone they opened fire and executed him. Perhaps an example of a trend of police to use lethal force first before exhausting non lethal options.
