I'm in south Seattle, where almost all minorities wear masks. (Note that construction workers resist wearing masks, while the transit workers do wear them.)
In the northern parts of Seattle, at white fundie rallies - why wear a mask? It's all a hoax!
White privilege much?

I hope the child of the couple that held that fire starting gender reveal party later transitions to the opposite sex and further humiliates the parents.

Diversity training is important, but geez they are interminable endurance tests of condescending and patronizing role-playing exercises with flip charts and sharpies.

Oh look everyone, two of our resident dumbasses are now forced to talk to each other...

And while it's probably belaboring the obvious, the Yippies didn't actually believe they could levitate the Pentagon:
https://dsps.lib.uiowa.edu/downtownpopunderground/story/the-yippies-plan-to-levitate-the-pentagon/.

Also, anyone have either the time or patience to explain to these two cockwombles the difference between sex and gender? Yeah, me neither.

Did you actually READ the Times article? The claim that the study shows that apartment ads are "reinforcing segregation" makes no sense at all. Their prime example was that ads in Capitol Hill talk about walkability, proximity to restaurants, etc., while those in Bitter Lake talked about access to a park. Guess what? Cap Hill IS really walkable, and there ARE lots of restaurants, etc. to walk to. In Bitter Lake you can walk to a couple of Starbucks, Lowes, and that lovely stretch called Aurora Ave. Imagine the field day the study authors would have had if the Bitter Lake ads had played up the easy access to prostitution up there?

There certainly are problematic words in real estate ads. That is why you are not supposed to point out the lack of school busing, or the nearby synagogue etc. But pointing out that an apartment that is close to bars and restaurants is close to bars & restaurants, while not saying the same about a place that is NOT close to said bars and restaurants, is not racist. It's just pointing out the reasons someone might want to live in a particular area. Same for the security question. Everyone knows which neighborhoods have higher crime rates. A secure building is a hell of a lot more important to a prospective tenant in a high-crime area than it would be in a low-crime one.

Landlords are just using the better features of their properties as selling points. that is all. Have we gotten to the point that we can't do that without getting called racist? Really? Frankly, the assumption that only white people care about walkable neighborhoods & proximity to restaurants is itself pretty damn racist.

2 should invite the 'christians' over to his place for an anti-mask 'just practicing their religiion' fest.

9

@2 - what you are saying makes sense only if we replace "gender reveal party" with "schlong disclosure party."

15

@11 Literally anything? How about this:

"Each time health care workers grab a pint of blood for an emergency transfusion, they make sure the donor and recipient have compatible blood types. But they do not pay attention to the donor’s sex. A new study raises questions as to whether that should change.

In the first large study to look at how blood transfusions from previously pregnant women affect recipients’ health, researchers discovered men under 50 were 1.5 times more likely to die in the three years following a transfusion if they received a red blood cell transfusion from a woman donor who had ever been pregnant. This amounts to a 2 percent increase in overall mortality each year. Female recipients, however, did not appear to face an elevated risk. The study of more than 42,000 transfusion patients in the Netherlands was published Tuesday in JAMA The Journal of the American Medical Association."

Anyone know how long this smoke is expected to hang around? There're few details in the news apart from our current state. My forecast says the northerly winds will last until Friday though so it could be at least that long unfortunately.

20

@16: I expected a more elevated response from you, after all it isn't a Breitbart link.

22

@2:

At the age of two I seriously doubt you were capable of making any more meaningful determination than which of your mom's breasts to suckle - and she probably had to help with that.

23

@22 meant for @12.

24

@21: I did read it. It's not unusual to have scientific studies that aren't definitive enough to warrant changes, but that doesn't invalidate their scientific value including possible future important considerations.

27

You can have the deadly and destructive smoke bomb I use for pointless purposes when you pry it from my cold, dead, stupid fingers.

29

All State parks are shut down.

Stop hiking.
Stop camping.
GO INDOORS YOU FOOLS!

31

"Trump's Department of Justice thinks anti-bias trainings might be racist: Or rather, as his DOJ calls it, "divisive, anti-American propaganda," according to the Seattle Times."

Isn't the same bullshit that was said in the 50s. "Anti-racism is communist propaganda"

32

@26: The fact that you haven't learned anything since age two, and are proud of that fact explains so much about you.

35

@34, I mean, yes, they “shut down the park,” but they still allowed the rally. And I’m pretty sure they did it at least partly to try and save the community from a superspreader event. This was a couple hundred people gathering in close quarters with hardly any masks, after all.

37

So Vanilla ISIS gets to kill wantonly kill people by exacerbating a public health crises but of course the people protesting against killing are the problem. America is a shithole.

40

This is what happens when people say they don't fucking care and they're going to do what they want during a motherfucking PANDEMIC!!!

This is why the coronavirus will continue to rage through this country and there will be no getting back to normal. Not with Donnie Dumbass in charge and not with people like this.

Conservative estimate: 250,000 people got COVID-19, cost $12 billion from Sturgis Motorcycle Rally

41

@34 The city shut the parks down on Labor Day because asshole like you and the delusional fools who gathered in Wallingford who refuse to take mask wearing seriously spread disease.

42

What @41 said.

43

@7 I think you missed his point: "In nonwhite areas, they tended to play up security features and amenities. In white areas, they tended to play up walkability and centrality." He must mean nonwhites are not concerned about security and evidently don't like to walk or be centrally located.

45

@30: Thanks - I would need a whiteboard though to get through that first sentence.

46

@43: To avoid the appearance of discriminatory bias, all apartment advertising should contain only randomly generated descriptions.

47

It's amazing what including the word "gender" in the morning summary will do for the comments generation. All the usual suspects here to elbow one another to the front of the line of "most repugnant," while whining at others about "good faith arguments." Just amazing.

50

@47:

Not so much amazing as utterly predictable. These chuckleheads would probably be dumbfounded merely by being shown a photo of Grace Jones or The New York Dolls, and thrown into a state of hysterical catatonia by one of the Wachowskis.

51

@49:

So, you've never heard of either polydactylism OR Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome - figures.
