Slog PM: Smoke, Fire, Hell; Trump Knows COVID-19 Is "Deadly Stuff,” Suggests Ted Cruz 4 Supreme Court as a Distraction

1

Biden said Trump "lied to the American people," "failed to do his job on purpose," and characterized Trump's failure as "a life and death betrayal of the American people":

And what was Biden saying at the same time? Both had the same information.

2

Boy Jackkay you seem continually really confused about who was president and who set policies at the federal level in 2020 and how elections work.

3

Have a look what Biden was saying: https://www.procon.org/background-resources/coronavirus-timeline-of-comments-by-trump-and-biden-with-background-and-context/

Also, a reminder that Biden is not POTUS (yet), and was not responsible for shaping a federal response to the pandemic. That is Trump's job.

"We are in the midst of a crisis with the coronavirus. We need to lead the way with science — not Donald Trump's record of hysteria, xenophobia, and fear-mongering. He is the worst possible person to lead our country through a global health emergency."

"Well, we pretty much shut it down coming in from China. We have a tremendous relationship with China, which is a very positive thing. Getting along with China, getting along with Russia getting along with these countries."

"It’s a little like the regular flu that we have flu shots for. And we’ll essentially have a flu shot for this in a fairly quick manner… This is a flu. This is like a flu."

On whether there is enough testing:

"[W]e're testing everybody that we need to test. And we're finding very little problem."

Interview with Jake Tapper on CNN's State of the Union:

"We knew that this was coming. Back as far as January. They didn't even begin to prepare the testing kits...

Donald Trump said just several days ago this was a Democratic hoax. What in God's name is he talking about? Has he no shame?"

"They have eliminated the office we set up -- we set up in the president's office to deal with pandemic diseases."

@2 hes not confused hes just a piece of shit

"I really believe that the American people are doing a better job than anybody would have thought even possible, and that's one of the reasons we can even be talking about the kind of number [of deaths from coronavirus] that we hopefully will be talking about, which is at the minimum level instead of the maximum or beyond...

I see light at the end of the tunnel. I think indications are some of the numbers coming out today."

The virus is not his [President Trump's] fault, but the response is his responsibility...

We should create a bank Defense Production Act. We have got to get those small business loans out...

We have got to save jobs. We've got to save people's businesses. And they have to exponentially ramp up testing. We have been talking about 4 million tests are going to be available. Look where is all this -- where is it? What's being done?

You've got to open up enrollment for Obamacare. A lot of people don't have insurance. This president is trying to take away Obamacare across the board, which will leave people naked to this problem that we're facing. And we have to finally get some data how this Coronavirus is really hurting African-Americans and minority communities."

8

Our president is actively and intentionally killing American citizens. How is that not treason? How can anyone possibly defend this?

9

I remember that POS Teddy would post some weird nutso stuff and then I would just stumble upon something revealing that some right wing media personality just advanced the same idea. So his often white supremacist bullshit wasn't even original.

So right now I just stumbled upon a report that one of the Fox personalities is claiming that Biden downplayed, just like @1.

https://www.rawstory.com/2020/09/he-said-to-inject-bleach-fox-news-hannity-nailed-for-trump-interview-blaming-biden-for-presidents-lies/

10

People defend Trump is because they are in a Death Cult. It’s no longer political. It’s a cult.

I just finished Lawrence Wright’s “Going Clear.” And his description of the collective suicidal moony-eyed bat-shit behavior of Scientologists is almost identical to MAGA-heads. And over time the crazy just concentrates and distills until reality is unrecognizable to them.

In fact Wright says now there is heavy MAGA and Scientologist crossover in Southern California and Florida. They were made for each other.

11

Lol about how Jackwad @1 didn’t even bother to see what Biden had said, and then got absolutely owned right up his dumb butt, and not in a good way. Nice work, Lastlight.

12

Why did Bob Woodward sit on this stuff all this time - just for the book? Not that it would have changed things much, but still. Not the best ethics.

13

And now Karen asks a question that has been all over the media as if it's an original insight.

14

@8: They can't, if they're honest. But they're not. Try to imagine what the right-wing reaction would be to Obama or Hillary doing similarly, though.

@12: There's a lengthy approval process one has to go through before they can publish these things. I recall the WH attempting to weaponize the process against a possible John Bolton deposition during the impeachment (where it had already been vetted but it was being held up before full approval). I doubt it takes six months, but it's a possible factor.

As our death spiral gains momentum, we should take a minute to acknowledge what ended up being a ridiculously cheap and easy Russian take down of the United States. All those years of dead drops and poison darts… the silver bullet should have been obvious all along: aggressive racism.

It must have been exhilarating to develop “Trump” and then sell him to “his base”. More so to realize that his cloak of racism was virtually impervious. A few test runs… have “Trump” attack the Republican party… Ok, that was easy. Attack a longtime Republican superstar and war hero? Huh, no problem. A Gold Star family? Done. The pope? Sure! It didn’t take long for the Russians to realize they didn’t even have to bother with the whole double-agent thing. They could meet with “Trump’s” team, have him hire their people, have him openly communicate with them at pressers, yuck it up in the freaking Oval Office, have him defend Putin by saying, “You think our country is so innocent?” and then double-down, quadruple-down, times-infinity-down by having “Trump” defer to Putin while simultaneously rejecting the entire U.S. intelligence apparatus in front of the international media. The rest was gravy. Have “Trump” attack and undermine NATO. And the CIA. And the FBI. The entire DOJ. The military. The WHO. The CDC. The electoral process. The constitution.

Still, on the heels of “Trump’s” inaction in response to the Taliban bounty operation, the reference to war dead and wounded as suckers and losers, his “I don’t get it, what was in it for them?” comment, and the attack on the entire military command structure… I had a moment of doubt. It’s all so close to what pacifists have been saying forever about how old men dupe young people into joining the military and then send them off to war to be maimed and killed that I was tempted to go long on this one. Does America love its racism more even than the military? Hahaha, what am I saying? Of course it does.

In any case, we know one thing for sure: “Trump” has thrown so many wrenches into so many works and cemented white supremacy so firmly in place that the United States will never recover. I’m no military historian, but Operation Stonecrumbler or whatever the Russian code name is, has to be one-of-if-not-the most stunning and stunningly thorough demolitions of an overwhelmingly stronger adversary ever.

Поздравляю to “Trump’s” handlers in the U.S. and in Moscow. And of course a Hero of the Russian Federation medal for Special Agent “Trump” himself. Forward, Russia!

16

@13: You got a kick out of concocting that, but no, I had not seen any media about it until until just now on Brian Williams after I had posted.

You can blush now.

17

In the past two weeks we've gotten damning reports of his shitting on the American military, then the American populace at large. We should really start a pool on what institution or individual is next in line. I'd think it'd be pretty great if it was a member of his immediate family. Melania perhaps, though the odds-on favorite would have to be Jared. Also, watching him turn around and attempt to spin the blame for his loss on electoral corruption in spite of all this shitting is gonna be pure joy.

18

@15 The NSA and the US Military could bury Russia in a weekend. The resources we have at our command are staggering by comparison. The collusion was always small time bullshit. A few thousand votes across three states did this. Hilary Clinton failed. The Democrats failed. We didn't get beaten by a Russia cyberwar operation. No one was looking forward to Hilary taking over, she was just the sensible alternative to tiny-handed Mussolini. The Democrats lost. They failed to mobilize their base. It's just too fucking simple.

And I'm pretty sure if Uncle Joe, the Senator from MBNA, doesn't step up and turn out the Democrat base, we're going to see what happens when a madman and wannabe despot is re-elected to the Chief Executive of the last great superpower on the planet. Pretty sure he'll invite Bolsanaro, Putin and whoever is running North Korea to his coronation at Mar A Lago. The arrests should start shortly after the band starts playing Hail to the Chief. See you in the gulag.

19

@ 15,

What’s truly incredible is that we spend a trillion or more a year on “national security,” military/CIA/NSA/FBI/DHS/dozens of others, and those morons are so abjectly incompetent and corrupt that Russia and GOPnazi voters were able to easily carry out a decapitation strike that destroyed seventy years of US leadership.

Turns out the people entrusted with protecting America are the ones least interested in defending it.

We should demand every freakin cent back.

20

I haven't been a big fan of Hilary Franz' tenure at DNR.
From what I have seen on the ground it has been BAU in letting the timber industry in and keeping the public out, both literally and figuratively.
But that statement about the fires is impressive- very appropriate, compassionate, sincere.
Very classy.

22

@21,

At this point we don't give a shit if he adds Judy Sheindlin, Ted Nugent and Beelzebub himself to the list of potential nominees. He's losing the election and so it doesn't matter.

23

Bob Woodward had this recording for months & instead of bringing it to Congress immediately, he sought to put it in a book to make some $ while people had to zoom into their family members funeral.

24

If Tom Cotten married Ted Cruz he'd be Tom Cruise.

25

@22 I would be fine with Zaphod Beeblebrox at this point.

@24 Bless your heart...
you made a funny.

26

Trump only likes to create panic when black or brown people are involved. Pandemic? Meh.

27

The shit I heard today as far as the recordings of dump, I kept thinking Woodward was thinking to himself "You realize who you're talking to right? I'm Bob Woodward and you're being recorded." Dump clearly doesn't know who Woodward is and what he was able to accomplish.

And Mr. Shoreline you are a fucking idiot. If either of those vile fascist fucks got onto SCOTUS you'd probably have to move out of Shoreline because there will be calls and petitions for secession of the whole west coast, NY, New England and Colorado. A far cry, but I for one don't want to live in your America. In fact, I took to adding up how many of my friends want out of this place for good today (liberal and conservative) because of poisonous hateful souls such as you and I would put that at about 75%. You and your death cult really need to shape up.

If you happen to reply and I sorta hope you don't because every time I see your handle I gag a little from life experience with those who have no empathy or natural curiousness, I request that you explain how you have led your entire life gulping down other people's thoughts and never having one of your own. You're a conformist and not the firebrand you think you are.

28

Wow, deja vu.

I said it before and I will say it again. Trump knew about COVID far in advance and intentionally did nothing.

So, for you people who love to make libs cry so much, I hope it was worth it because, make no mistake, nobody believed that everyone in France was a member of the resistance during WWII and nobody is going to believe everyone was on the side of the angels now.

29

Whatabout, whatabout?
And Hillary's e-mails?
And Bob Woodward?
And Obama something?
And Biden/Bernie/Harris?
And if all else fails, it's those darn Gays and the International Banking Conspiracy!

30

Listen to the President guys. We've always been at war with Eurasia.

31

Of as I call him "Sir"

32

Imagine going to bat for a guy who called your wife ugly and accused your dad of killing jfk and your reward was having your name added to a ridiculous list of fantasy supreme court nominees

33

it's Bill Barr who's
next on our USSC.

unless

let's hope Biden can find a few Liberal Lions.
no, not Hillary, nor Bill

what's the Opposite of
Clarence ‘Uncle’ Thomas
Bret Kavanaughtiest Maximus?

a non-Reptilican
duh.

34

@31,

Do you regularly meet with him personally? If not, where/when would you call him "Sir?" On Twitter? Or other online forums? That'd be super weird and grammatically awkward if you weren't addressing him personally. You're weird, regardless.

35

Ah. The REAL issue is NOT that the president lied (again) and allowed Americans die by the tens of thousands.

Noooooo. The real moral dilemma is that Bob Woodward should've immediately ran out to the newspapers and told us WHAT WE ALREADY KNEW. It's all his fault!

And you piles of shit Death Cultists would've ignored him anyway.

Yeah that MAGA "logic" checks out.

36

Ted Cruz, the reviled mewling sycophant on SCOTUS? And David in Dumfuckistan is exited by it! Well. Of course he would be.

I mean, what coward wouldn't worship the man who rolled onto his belly and let Trump call his wife a pig? What wiggling worm wouldn't love Trump who implied Ted Cruz's father was part of the conspiracy to kill Kennedy while Cruz just sat and steeped in his own cold sweat and smiled?

Why wouldn't fans of such craven bootlicking also want to Trump's dick buried up his ass and be beholden to such a powerful daddy figure? It makes perfect sense. Chickens of a feather.

37

@36:

What else would you expect from Omegas?

38

@21: Fat, drunk, stupid, and racist is no way to go through life, Doofy.

39

@37 COMTE; No further questions, Your Honor.
Ding, ding, ding--we've got a WINNER! :)

40

@36 Just because David is a complete racist moron does not mean all of Shoreline is Dumfuckistan. Granted, there are more Trumpies there than some parts of Seattle proper, but we've got our share of idiots in Seattle two. I'm sure there are plenty of folks in Shoreline who think David needs to move to some red-state shit-hole to be truly happy.

41

I adore Shoreline. Best of all are the choice of paper or plastic and no soda tax.

42

@41:

Yeah, figures you'd spew a few extra cubic pounds of pollution into the atmosphere just to save some pennies - we expect nothing less from dumbasses such as yourself.
