@4 You’re complaining about giving employees the pay and benefits they need to be to able live within a reasonable commute of their employers.
This pandemic is decimating lots of businesses and it’s not due to the effect of hourly wages, etc.
Its due to the fact that during a pandemic the public’s safety requires temporary business restrictions. unless you want a lot of people getting sick, businesses suffer and some close

@6 You’re claiming businesses are going out of business because of increased labor costs.
It’s clearly happening due to the pandemic. And due to a lack of business due to pandemic restrictions. No where in the article did the business owner complain about how much he had to pay his workers. He said he needs more sales. And he wasn’t thrilled about price matching with Total Wine

mistral @2: “ to make a massive disaster you need only add COVID -19“

So it only took a once-a-century pandemic which has crashed the entire national economy, aided and abetted by a complete failure of leadership at the Federal level, for Canon to fail? Clearly, the $15 minimum is to blame.

Thank you for completely ignoring the entire focus of the article in favor of your fascinating economic theories. Now, if I sign up for your newsletter, will you get the fuck off this thread and never come back?

@9 I knew it was too much to ask for. Unsubscribing from your newsletter now.

@9 Due to the drop in customers, owners are giving fewer employees fewer hours. So wages being paid out are lower now.
Additionally, no one is having staffing issues where they need more employees on hand than they have. Because there are fewer customers and transactions.
So your conclusion is incorrect. Wages have lowered, business has dipped and businesses are closing. You can believe businesses would do better by paying workers less but you don’t get to claim this pandemic proves your point. It’s self serving and not looking at the facts
