Jenny needs a makeover.
Right now none of its working- the hair, the makeup, the wardrobe, ugh.
I mean c'mon... Seattle prides itself as one of the gayest cities in the country and y'all can't find anyone to do her hair?

Here's a thought:

Recall Jenny Durkin and defund the SPD by 50%.

We won't just save on salaries, but will save on lost police misconduct suits from a smaller force.

I was surprised when I read that SPD had their budget cut 65.4%.

It's a start.

The JumpStart Seattle payroll tax, passed this summer by the Seattle City Council, imposes taxes on businesses with $7 million annual payrolls that pay employees over $150,000. The tax will raise around $214 million a year. Durkan never signed the bill and instead passively let it go into law. She was a stalwart critic of implementing the tax. In fact, she vetoed the bill outlining the tax's spending plan. Council overrode that veto. Now, Durkan is relying heavily on the tax she didn't support to balance out the city's budget. Classic.

Citizens revolted against the EHT because it was (a) a flat tax on our jobs, with (b) the revenue to be squandered on the same Homeless-Industrial Complex which has exacerbated the very crisis it supposedly exists to solve. JumpStart is ever-so-slightly less regressive than the EHT, and the Mayor proposes the money be spent in a worthwhile manner. Maybe these changes will allow JumpStart to survive where EHT died. Otherwise, expect another citizen revolt. (And no, determinedly ignoring the citizen revolt against the EHT does not prevent another citizen revolt against JumpStart.)
