@2: Good for you boo! You can copy paste a headline!

5

@2,

And The Stranger is not only not dead, but actually hiring back previously furloughed staff. That's gotta sting.

6

Donnie and his cronies are incapable of stopping COVID, so instead they'll put all their effort into stopping people from voting.

7

"Trump will open almost half of Alaska's Tongass National Forest up for logging and other DESTRUCTION, "

FTFY

I honestly can't even figure out what these RWNJ "poll watchers" claim to be watching for and policing. I mean, I know they're actually just there to intimidate, but surely they're claiming to be on the lookout for some manner of "fraud." But in what form exactly? Places that have private booths would allow people to do whatever they please in said booths regardless, and if it's just a ballot drop box, they'd not be able to guard against someone discreetly dropping a couple extra envelopes in said box assuming that's the "fear."

What a sad spectacle.

9

Well I see budget adds. Last I checked there was a deficit. Is it all coming out of the Police budget?

10

The sink program only cost $58k because a city employee didn't come up with the idea first. If they had we would have a $1.5m sink department with $200k/year sink czar, a team of city engineers designing sinks, another team of union fabricators building them, another team of people deploying them. All for what amounts to a glorified Eagle Scout project. Lol

12

@8 "but surely they're claiming to be on the lookout for some manner of "fraud." But in what form exactly?"

Voting while Black.

Seattle can start raising additional funds by cutting Seattle City Council salaries by 50%.

14

Can't Biden just reverse Trump's order opening up the Tongass National Forest 3 months from now? If so and if I was a logging company, I wouldn't want to start work there for fear I'd simply lose money investing in roads and logging infrastructure as soon as Biden shuts logging down there.

I would think logging firms would wait to see who is elected before doing anything, or not doing anything as the case may be. So, hopefully Pres. Dipshit's move is essentially meaningless.

15

President Trump put out a dog whistle to the Proud Boys and other white supremacists groups in the first debate with his "stand by and stand ready, looks like their parent group the Police Union is responding to his call at the polls.

Sad to see City Pages go down in Minneapolis. A great alt weekly that challenged the unaccountable corporate influence and entrenched corruption in policing and government supported by the Minneapolis Star Tribune. Very similar to the relationship between the Seattle Times and The Stranger. American proves once again their is no profit in media that holds the powerful accountable.

16

I fear that in a few months the Strib will bring a new free paper forward. It will not be the alt-voice that the City Pages offered. The Pages has done a great job holding those in power accountable for their bad decisions and actions. I miss the days when we had competing alt-weeklies here.

Maybe the hygiene maven Tammy Morales should volunteer to host an encampment and sink on the lawn of her six bedroom house on Lake Washington and volunteer to clean the shit and needles out of it on a daily basis. Maybe Lisa Herbold, the former hygiene maven, should host the same think in North Bend where she lives with her techie husband to avoid the problems she creates in Seattle.

18

@17 ssshhh, people hate when you point out Herbold's blatant conspicuous consumption during a housing crisis. Don't you know, they each owned a home when they were married...some years back. And it isn't like houses sell in 2-3 days here, that shit takes time...oh, they do sell in 2-3 days and often over asking price? Welp. Herold should resume her former position as official diseased troll of West Seattle Bridge because she is absolutely worthless as a council person. But, what can we expect from someone with an IQ between box-of-rocks and George Costanza?

19

@16 most of the alt weekly papers are gone not only in print but online. Except for the features a lot of it you can find on the socials.

20

@12 -- that makes it
super-duper EZ to
spot Miscreants.

@14 The Forest Service pays for the roads. In many cases, the Forest Service pays the timber companies to cut the trees too, since the timber companies are required by law to make a profit. So we're paying people to cut an irreplaceable resource. It's a good thing the timber companies are filled with Hardworking Americans (tm) or we'd think they were on some kind of public welfare that smacked of socialism. /s

"Everette" -- is that what it's called now that Boeing is more or less kaput? Might actually catch on.

24

The only good Infrastructure Week is one that no longer subsidizes, directly or indirectly, fossil fuel infrastructure.

That means bridges too.

You spent way too much time ignoring this issue. Now you have to deal with it.

25

Will dear, what about your hydrogen powered cars?
