Trump.. being fitted for the 2 or 4 man orange tent prison unfirom?

2

Whenever a political cartoonist rocks the boat, it's a sign of progress.

3

@2
Yes, and Horsey is excellent!

4

He could tell some stories... but then he'd have another slander lawsuit to have to defend himself in.

5

My daughter just asked if I think civil society and government institutions and procedures will hold* in the immediate aftermath of the election, and I couldn't make a prediction. Or even say likely or unlikely. So an election eve Slog survey: Please predict the short-term aftermath of the election on a FUBAR scale from Y2K (zero) to Fort Sumter (ten).

*Fairness/justice aside. We know that's not possible.

6

If tomorrow is the most stressful day if your life, You are either a cat or pathetic. Vote. Encourage others to do the same. Chill. Live with the results.

7

@2 in what sense is reiterating a dimwitted messagbaord post we've all seen a thousand times "rocking the boat"?

9

If/In case the Stranger changes their mind(s) about any of their endorsements last minute, where on the website can we find that information? Thank you.

10

@7 alden, or maybe more to the point, what he said is just plain stupid, irrespective of the cartoon.

11

@5 dw, I think they ā€œholdā€ in the sense that our government will pretty much look the same from the outside.

If it appears that Trump will succeed in invalidating the election, there will be mass demonstrations by the end of the month. That could save our democracy, or maybe itā€™s already marked for death and most people havenā€™t realized it yet.

In any case, our daily lives will continue as normal for the time being, but there will be a steady increase in civil unrest in the coming months and years.

Whichever way it plays out, this will be a very dark period of this nationā€™s history that will be in the history books a century from now.

Iā€™m wishing for the best.

12

@6 DanOh, "Live with the results."

Uh, yeah, about that... you see, for some people, they may literally die because of the results.

13

@3: A Seattle legend.

14

@6: Yeah, it's not the most stressful day. That day will occur between 1/20/2021 and 1/20/2025.

15

@14 - if Trump wins.

16

Horseyā€™s cartoon doesnā€™t even make sense. Is it saying the Council has been too lenient about the homeless camps? Or is it a dig at them for not following through and being too wishy-washy with their jumbled policies?

17

A talented caricaturist, a good inker.
Politically naĆÆve, annoyingly cloying and gutless at times. But you do have to give him credit for having some survival instincts, the guy has been around for a long time already and seems to be dug in like a flea at ST.
I met him once about 26 years ago and my reaction to him was similar to my reaction to meeting Ted Bundy - basically "banal".

We do not want the American people to have to live with the results of a right wing victory.

More deaths, more poverty, more police violence and on and on. That's what it means.

We deserve way, way better and should have way, way better.

Our hearts go out to the people now and out of this we can still go forward to a better life.
If the worse happens - don't grieve organize - Joe Hill a labor champion. Organize either way.

In the past decades we have lived through in the 20th century 1940s, 50s, 60s, 70s in particular, life was generally easier for the average person because of powerful labor organizations and social movements and the sense of optimism that existed.

We are many and they (the elite) are few. Take care of ourselves.

19

@13

"A Seattle legend." Who dropped you in a heart beat for the LA Times.

The prospect of homelessness does that to people sometimes.

20

Man, he doesn't want to be fucking president and he never did. I know he and his enablers are spending hundreds of millions of dollars to suggest otherwise, but he never wanted to be president and this is indisputably evident from his behavior at press briefings and interviews he gives, even those "friendly" ones he gives to fox anchors who dare to probe him for anything specific relating to his campaign or overall ideology.

All he ever wanted was for people to pay attention to him. And a defeated presidential campaign would and will afford him status as something of a living martyr. Fighting the good fight on behalf of the oppressed moral minority against immigrants, brown people and adjacent libtard values. In his defense, he's probably not even aware of the fact that that he never wanted any of it, as he's too fucking stupid to differentiate between his base instincts and the implications those instincts can have when imbued with anything resembling power and agency. What a piece of fucking shit. Good riddance.

Thanks Chase, Stranger and slog commenters! Really enjoy this community, trolling warts and all. Think Imma make a small donation to support the ongoing cause....

21

Thanks, Chase, for the election campaign updates.
Go, Dave Horsey! Keep kicking editorial cartoon ass and take names!

@1: Thank you for making my day. I think the New York State Police would have to use an elephant-sized circus tent to outfit Trumpty Dumpty upon its multiple convictions. I'd SO love to see a video go viral of Trumpty Dumpty being dragged off kicking and screaming like Ethel Merman. .:)

@3 pat L: Agreed and seconded! :)

22

Just relax, give it a week, and enjoy the fact that both Florida and Texas went Blue and we have a 55 seat Democratic Senate.

23

PokƩmon go to the polls.

25

@22 and Arizona, hopefully -- crossing my fingers.

26

I feel like Horsey is about like Daniel Westneat but a little worse. He's pretty decent on national issues, but he has some local ones that he really clutches his pearls about. Westneat also has the advantage that he only does print. Horsey defaults to the Wild-Eyed Yelling Socialist always being a woman of color, which is kinda gross. For example, this cartoon could just as well have had Dan Strauss or Andrew Lewis as the city councilmember.

27

@26: Politically correct political cartoons are boring.

28

@27 But having the villain of the piece be Sawant or Mosqueda every. single. time. when Strauss and Lewis support the same policies? Seems like a trend. Or maybe erasure of white male wild-eyed socialists /s. I don't know whether that's because of laziness or bias, but neither is a good look.
