Listen, I realize not many folks here are interested in sports. But for me, the most awesome and uplifting Seattle-centric story is the Sounders' incredibly comeback in the final 20 minutes to beat Minnesota 3-2 in the Western Conference final and punch their return ticket to MLS Cup. Thank you, Sounders, for giving us some joyous sporting distraction from everything else going on in the world!

Remember that each doctor or nurse will need two shots, not just one.

Oh, and if you were actually trying to shut down the vectors, you'd be a First World Country like Canada or the UK, where they have multiple vaccines that they ordered large quantities of vaccines from, not the single vaccine with only a minimal order that the backwater US ordered.

4

Man, I can't wait until I get my vaccine so I can go to Sounders and Kraken games ...

5

An other BBC news headline today;
"Others deserve Covid vaccine before me."
That's a phrase you won't be hearing in the US!

6

Auburn is in Pierce county, not King.

7

Can we just change this to 'SMUG' instead of 'SLOG'. Wow!

8

Did anybody else have to do a google to find out that "TK" is journalist jargon for "to come"? YKINMKBYKIOK.

9

@6 It is? Since when?

10

There will be little to no punishment for the SPD in the contempt-of-court case, because what can you do? Fine them? The city is already trying to reduce their budget.

Nothing will happen.

11

@9

Probably since Karen raindrop stopped having bowel movements.

"Thanks to Democratic control of the [U.S.] House [of Reps], this electoral grift will not succeed, and neither will the President's other efforts."

thank Gawd for Soothsayers!

however: should trumpf and corps manage to sow enough Doubt and can get enough states to toss up their hands and say, 'We just don't Know!" then it all goes to State houses of representatives -- currently majoriy-controlled By Repubs. and we all know how ethically-challenged Repubs are so Let's HOPE you're Correct.

@9:

Technically, Auburn straddles the border (the White River) between King and Pierce Counties, with about a quarter of the town in PC. So, in this case Raindrip is only 75% wrong; actually pretty good considering his normal track record.

14

in trumpftopia
25% is considered
quite Scholarly so likely
to face a trumpf firing squad
should his Efforts happen to Prevail.

15

@13 Still 100% full of crap.

16

@13: Well, at least we can say my 75% error quenched your pounce fix.

17

@15: Perhaps, but never as crappy and stupid as saying we should give insurance companies the ability to deny coverage if people get sick after violating mandates.

How many ways can you spell Loser?

“Trump administration officials passed when Pfizer offered months ago to sell the U.S. government additional doses of its Covid-19 vaccine, according to people familiar with the matter.”

@18 -- President Donald Trump is celebrating Americans’ high coronavirus infection rate.

According to the president about one in every eight Americans, or around 15 percent of the nation, has contracted COVID-19. More than 290,000 Americans have been killed by the deadly virus and coronavirus cases are surging. More than 15 million Americans in the U.S, have been diagnosed with COVID-19, although the CDC months ago said it believes the real numbers could be ten times higher.

“I hear we’re close to 15 percent. I’m hearing that, and that’s terrific,” Trump told reporters on Tuesday, when asked what words of advice he had as the country enters the Christmas holiday season.

so, get tf OUT there
America and let's get

@22 - That's nothing new. The same is true in Dallas and probably every other city in America. As average incomes go down, police calls for service go up.

The mainstream of the defunding movement is saying that many of those calls could be better handled by other entities, most often mental health experts, as most of those type of calls also come from "more diverse" neighborhoods.

Most of the police are fine with that. The police answer calls regarding people in mental health crisis because they have to, not because they've ever sought to do so.

My only concern is cutting too much police funding too quickly. We've spent half a century tearing down our mental health infrastructure in this country and robbing it blind of funding. That's why it's devolved to cops to step in and replace all of that.

It will take time to rebuild even a significant portion of that back up and get a sufficient number of trained personnel out there available to respond quickly 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Only the cops can do that now, and it's going to be a while before that's no longer the case.
