One should point out that such an IR picture (infrared) primarily shows the heated air in your breath (mostly CO2, or carbon dioxide) and not necessarily droplets, which tend to stick to multiple cloth or fabric layers. The heated CO2 has to go somewhere, or you'll expire.

On the other hand, it does show that unobstructed breath goes further than many people realize. I used to use the breath of camouflaged individuals to target them in concealed locations in the Army, and find where tanks and other armored vehicles were. Cigarettes were particularly helpful in finding targets.
