It's a positive sign that Trump is beginning to accept his defeat, sabotaging Republicans on his way out...a "fuck you" to those Republicans who have recognized Biden. He is scum who burns bridges; all of them, and now he's just running around with a blow torch and a jerry can.

8

That AI song critic was entertaining and hilariously insulting. Will recommend to everyone I know, thank you Nathalie!

9

meh.
Empty political theater on the part of both Trump and Pelosi. Just idle posturing.
Republicans are poised to once again become the party of "no" and block any and all Biden initiatives pleading fiscal prudence.
Trump will find very few R allies with his $2000 talk. Getting to $600 was a stretch.
Hope I'm wrong, but I don't think so.

10

The president effectively presented Republicans a choice: Side with him and some of the Democrats’ most liberal members or stick with their congressional leaders.

The dilemma may be particularly acute in Georgia, where, just days before two crucial runoffs that will determine control of the Senate, the two Republican candidates, Senators Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue, were already proclaiming passage of the coronavirus relief bill as a triumph.

Both candidates have also pledged their fealty to Mr. Trump, who on Monday called the legislation a “disgrace.” — Emily Cochrane

The virus has mutated nearly half a dozen times now. The initial east coast infection in the spring was from a euro variant early on. The warnings of new variants being more transmissible are based on a single model in the UK. There is no epidemical evidence to support that model just yet. It’s also possible that people that are “done” with the virus impacting their lives are responsible for increased transmission as they’ve let down their guard.

TL;dr we don’t really know if it’s more contagious, more deadly or this vaccine will work. The answers in order are possibly, likely not and probably. We don’t know enough yet.

We could already be seeing the spread of a variant here. We don’t surveil the makeup of the virus here too much. Could be it came from somewhere other than the UK, maybe here and they were the first to find it. Like how it was with Spanish Flu wasn’t from Spain just discovered there. Of 17 million tests we looked at the makeup of about 51k tests. That’s about .003% of the infections. Far too few to know the genetic composition of the strain. Chances are the current wave in the US is a variant. Perhaps that UK variant or another.

Don’t crap you pants when hear about a variant. There will be plenty more.

12

@10 Good point. It might create an good cop/bad cop opportunity for Republicans. Allowing Perdue and Loeffler to take a Trump Republican good cop versus the McConnell Republican bad cop to drive more Republican voters to the polls in Georgia. I can see it now: "you need to get out and vote, not to ensure the Republicans stay in control of the Senate, but to ensure Trump Republicans stay in control of the Senate."

"VICE thinks the best part of working from home is: Being able to cry whenever. True."

Management's bean counters think the best part of working from home is that your job can be done by somebody working from home in Mumbai at a fraction of what you cost. Then you'll really have something to cry about.

Dominion Voting Systems has just filed a lawsuit alleging defamation against the Trump re-election campaign, Sidney Powell, and several of their allies. Now, indeed, the best defense is a good offense. Put it to the Trump Disinformation Company, good and hard. They've proven nothing and have gotten away with it until the recent recanting on Fox and I believe Newsmax, as well. Keep it up, Dominion. Go after the liars, and teach them there are consequences for conducting a scurrilous disinformation campaign. Hurt Trump with loss of money, reputation, and ability to make money off of playing victim. Show no mercy to these grifters. They wanted a fight; give it to them. Sadly, this is the only thing a bully like Trump understands and respects. Well, his troubles are only beginning. Bring it, Dominion.

RE: Donnie threatening to not sign the spending bill

I gotta say... that's fucking hilarious.

That dumbass hasn't got a clue what he's doing. He doesn't know he's effectively threatening to shut the whole government down because he doesn't know what a spending bill is.

Congress played the same stupid games they always play. Fucking around until the last minute. Then proclaiming that through all their hard work and effort they FINALLY were able to come to agreement and adjourn. Bullshit. All bullshit. They don't do any hard work or effort. It's all a game they play every year.

And their quarterback fucked it all up for them.

Christ you can't make this shit up.

Oh, and Donnie even said "this might have to be taken care of by the next administration... maybe even his." He STILL thinks he can win! Jesus Christ!

A hilarious shit show. God I'm glad congress will be forced to deal with this on christmas day! serves those assholes right!

25

Trump can't veto the package, it passed with a veto-proof majority.
Trump is giving a public display about bigger checks because:

Trump is pissed at McConnell for acknowledging Biden's win and since McConnell gave a speech about how long Americans have waited for this relief (which is not relief, and which only took so long because McConnell did nothing about it and wasn't going to do jack shit until he thought maybe he'd lose the senate), Trump makes McConnell look like a fool.

and

Trump knows that he can make a big show about a $2000 check when nothing will come from it. He knows it will never happen. But he gets to pretend he was some big man stomping around insisting congress do something for the American people (while he has done and continues to do nothing, especially not STFU and pack his shit).

Meanwhile people suffering who are twisting in the wind will have to wait even longer to get the pittance McConnell deemed an acceptable amount of "help" (which again is no help at all - not when it comes to paying months of back rent, months of back bills, feeding one's family, or anything else).

26

@25,

He doesn't have to physically veto it. Unless they get the bill to him today, he'll have enough time to pocket veto it if he wants (though I get murky on the ins and outs of congressional adjournments so someone correct me if I'm wrong).

27

@25, @26 -- Trump can indeed veto anything passed with a "veto-proof majority". He just vetoed the defense bill, which will give Congress the opportunity to override the veto.

He could also "pocket veto" the covid relief bill and/or the omnibus spending bill. If he neither signs nor vetoes, he can hold it for 10 days (not including Sundays) ... which would take us to January 3 -- when this session of Congress ends, and all unenacted legislation dies!

28

@25: Nancy Pelosi's fall for the $2K ruse is appallingly pathetic.

29

@27 He can veto it, but if it's got a veto proof majority, congress simply holds a vote to override (as you state), passes the legislation and it goes into place regardless of the veto. Trump is an ass. He literally does not understand anything about how the government is supposed to function. And does he think pissing off the DOD/Pentagon/Military while he's trying to successfully hold a coup and take over the government as a dictator is a good idea?

His refusal to sign the stimulus package is punishment of McConnell period. There is not veto proof majority of that bill and he is making McConnell pay. The cruelty and harm done to the American people is irrelevant to him. He wants us all dead and has proven as much. The Democrats know this as well, they just jumped on the bandwagon to see if they could force McConnell's hand (which they will not be able to do) and maybe, just maybe the Republicans and McConnell will be held responsible for people not getting anything until next year.

30

if a pocket veto Must delay Congress for ten days and Congress adjorns on Day Ten and that's the End of whatever Congress it is -- trumpf 'wins.' do I have that right?

damn.
I think you
repubs owe
US an Explanation.

31

Trump pardoning war criminals is sure to go over well, too, especially those who murder civilians and children. He really is determined to go down in history as the most vile and the most hated person in the history of this country.

32

@28: Talkin' pathetic: Your comments.. always, every day.. As reliable as the Sun coming up in the morning.. Except the Sun coming up contributes something.. your comments... like Dumbass Trump and everything he does... Nada..

33

Why couldn’t we have a cool mentally ill president instead of this turd. Take a camera crew to Area 51 and show us some aliens or some shit instead of pardoning that pedophile sandwich guy.

34

@28 Naw, Pelosi's shrewd and knows when to twist the knife. If Trump vetoes the bill, the Republicans (and Loeffler/Perdue in particular) have three options:

Accept a $2K relief bill, which is closer to what people need, though still inadequate
Override Trump's veto to pass $600, pissing off the hardcore Trumpists and giving Warnock and Ossoff a lovely attack line
Let everything die and take the blame for not getting it done.

Trump seems bent on throwing Loeffler and Perdue an anchor.

35

@24:

Oh, I think he has a "strategy", such as it is, namely, that by holding out for a larger stimulus check he thinks he'll pull all the plebes and hoi-polloi over to his side in the hopes they'll take up torches and pitchforks and storm the state capitols demanding a do-over on the election, which he will obviously win handily - or some equally delusional conspiracy-theory fueled Hail Mary act of desperation where he comes out the winner.

I mean, c'mon, everybody KNOWS $2,000 is all it takes to buy the adulation of the masses these days, right?

36

If he pockets the two remaining bills until end of Congressional session, it would put us in a government shutdown ... context pretext for some loony emergency executive action?

38

The government is funded until Dec 28. If Donnie doesn't do anything with that bill, the gov shuts down.

Right before the new year.

I think donnie's playing scorched Earth against his own party.

Like I said, this is fucking hilarious!

Our Health Care Heroes Are Getting Fed Up With Us
Doctors, nurses and others risk their lives every day...

“Don’t praise me, don’t call me a hero ― none of that. Stay home,” said Raul Garcia, a hospital nurse in El Paso, Texas. “Stay home, take care of yourself, stop going to see other family members. Just stay home,” he said. “At the end of the day, it is a lack of compassion.

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/covid-doctors-nurses-heroes-fed-up_n_5fe254b7c5b6acb53455062e

This country and and all of the branch COVIDIANS and COVIDIOTS are going to cause a mass exodus from the medical field. So what do you think will happen when there are no doctors, nurses, EMTs, caregivers, etc. to manage the pandemic? When bodies are piled up in mounds and the stench of death is everywhere? Will assholes like the OP care then or will they just continue doing whatever the fuck they want?

Notice all of the hoaxers and liars and thieves and wealthy who have downplayed the pandemic from day one are literally shoving people out of the way to get to the front of the line to get vaccinated. Odd, isn't it? Why get vaccinated from a virus you don't believe is real or if you do believe it is real, is no worse than the flu?

Hypocrites all.

41

Meanwhile: The GOP members of the House are refusing to agree to any $2K payment (so Trump's gambit is working). And Trump is back at Mar-A-Lago golfing, bringing his taxpayer funded golf trips to over $150 million to date. (But please Trumper MAGAts remind us again how he is "donating" his paycheck - when his paycheck is being taken to pay off his debts and the amount he's spent on golfing alone is the cost of over 375 years of presidential salary).

42

Trump doesn't give a shit about any legislation. All he wants now is to pay back McConnell for stating that Biden actually will become Pfresident Jan. 20. And he's probably going to form a new T Party next year so he can run in 2024, so he doesn't give a shit about Republicans anymore, either. As far as Pelosi, she wasn't taken in by Trump and his $2,000, she knows she can use it to remind people the House passed a much bigger bill months ago and the Senate said no.

43

$2,000.00 stimulus checks---from Trumpty Dumpty? Yeah, riiiiiiight! It's a hoax! He'd probably use disappearing ink. Then he'll blame it all on the Democrats as a conspiracy "to overspend the federal budget" Again. Why didn't Trumpty Dumpty sign $2,000.00 stimulus checks with real ink back in July? Oh, yeah, that's right---he was too busy playing golf!
The sooner this sack of pigshit is out of the White Trash House, the better. And the White Trash House will have to be fumigated if not fully razed and a new presidential mansion built before Biden and Harris officially take office on January 20, 2021.
I'd gladly pay admission to see Trumpty Dumpty fitted in an orange jumpsuit size double-wide, Goodyear Blimp, being dragged out kicking and screaming like Ethel Merman. Nancy Pelosi ca throw the banana peel.

44

Trumpty Dumpty and its Evil Empire, down to the latest pardoned members of the GOP Crime Syndicate-- for the Guillotine in 2021. These MAGA pigfuckers want to go back 200 years to Marie Antoinette's "Let 'em eat cake"? Fine. Off with their ugly heads!
