This is such an embarrassing country to live in. Arguing over one time payments of $2,000 to people who need help is an insult when cost is never an issue for corporate welfare or police and military funding.

Civilized nations are providing recurring relief payments and adequate social safety nets. Yeah yeah I know love it or leave it. But America could also try to not be such a miserable place hellbent on bankrupting and killing its citizens. But that cant even begin to happen until Mitch McConnel is gone.

2

@1 This whole thing has made it CRYSTAL clear what our government thinks about the American people. Plan accordingly.

3

I hope Trumpty Dumpty, Pencey Pencey, and especially moscow Mooch McDumbbell all drop dead of TRUMPVID-19, COVID-19, and every other highly form of slow, painful death imaginable. If Joe Biden and Kamala Harris aren't rightfully inaugurated and sworn in to the White House on January 20, 2021, there will be a revolution. And it will be bloody. And this time, may the height of bloodshed by that of KKKorporate RepubliKKKan obstructionists.
We won't have a country again until RepubliKKKans and their idiot MAGA dupes are fully OUT of power.

@4. +1 it’s rough out here and is going to be for a while.

Too bad y’all are closing for the year as this is something that needs to be checked out. I don’t know if this is right wing trolling but there is supposedly an antifa soccer league starting in PDX on Weds. It’s called Antifa FC they say. I know they busted some black blocs in Cal Anderson last week before it officially opened again. But this seems like a hoax.

I looked at Blogtown at The Mercury and they didn’t have anything. Anyone know if this is real?

7

well yeah Sir Toby Toby, technically you may be correct but Chase called it a Stimmy -- it's IN the Headline! -- and if it's Good Enough for Chase, then it's Good Enough for Me. Where's MY Stimmy!?

oh those silly republicans -- blaming Everyone but themselves for the MAJOR Lack of Funds for America that KkKonnell held back . . . just ... because.....

Who Hates the People?
REPUBLICANS HATE we, the PEOPLE.
'cause of all their Patriotism?
sure. why not?

9

@5: Aww now, auntie's Hanna-Barbera cartoon prose grows on you, kind of like kristofarian's jagged punctuation and streams of passion.

10

You know Americans are dumb as fucking dirt, so at least half of them will believe that Democrats are the ones responsible for no additional cash payment, never mind the truth, facts, and reality: the House passed a 2.2 trillion dollar second stimulus package in MAY.
McConnell did nothing until September and really didn't want to pass a second package at all.

Trump did nothing the entire time and is only talking about $2K payments now because he's torching the GOP on his way out the door because they won't simply give him the right to squat in the WH for four more years just because he is demanding they do so.

@1 is right, this country is an embarrassment. We have no right to pretend we are anything other than fancy looking third world country.

Meanwhile, it takes just 30 minutes to murder to your parents. And these were people who supposedly "followed the rules."
https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/29/us/covid-coronavirus-victim-story-haircut-chicago-trnd/index.html

And white men are beginning to turn their pandemic related murder sprees on people other than themselves. How many of these headlines will exist before this shit show is over?

Oh and then there's this. See the poll in the article: how do you intend to spend the next 10 years (the decade it will take to vaccinate every American). WarpED speed is what they should have named their botched bullshit.

Trump's 'Warp Speed' fiasco now on track to vaccinate all Americans--by 2030
https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2020/12/29/2004801/-Trump-s-Warp-Speed-fiasco-on-track-to-vaccinate-all-Americans-by-2030

But hey - McConnell will be around for 6 of those 10 years, making sure maximum suffering is inflicted while he collects his paycheck and his Russian money.

16

@4, @5,@8, @11, and @12: Bite me, Mr. PC Concern Troll.
I notice you don't cite any sources to back your Trump-apologist statements.
Begone, lil MAGA, before you draw more of Pence's flies.

@9: Hanna-Barbara? How's your blood sugar holding up, Rainy? You might wanna go easy on the Cocoa Puffs.

@10: xina for the WIN!

Life in general for all people in this country not only could be 1000% better than it is, it SHOULD be given the resources available, the obscene amount of wealth, and the stories we tell ourselves and the world about us (if they were truths and not lies).

Wanting the country in which you live to BE BETTER and to constantly strive for, work for, and fight for that improvement against all odds is normal. It does not mean one's life is miserable. In fact most people who want more from the country in which they live, who constantly strive for, work for, and fight for that improvement against all odds are typically not miserable people. They are intelligent, motivated, imaginative, creative, uncompromising, determined, passionate, driven, dedicated, compassionate, caring, etc. They are typically the people who bring about change, They make the sacrifices, they take the risks, they do not accept things as they are, and the world is a better place thanks to each and every one of them. No change has ever occurred without them.

The miserable people say "love it or leave it." The miserable people accept the way things are and can't understand why people want things to be different. The miserable people wish everyone who wants things to be different would just sit down and shut up and eat shit and then die. Fuck those people.

COVID KILLS INCOMING CONGRESSMAN

Congressman-elect Luke Letlow (R-La.) has died of COVID-19.

The 41-year-old contracted the virus on Dec. 18 and was later moved to an intensive care unit in Shreveport, Louisiana, for treatment as his condition worsened.

20

Perhaps changing "died from covid" to "suffocated to death from covid" would result in more mask wearing.

21

@19 SirTobyII: Okay, I stand corrected, and apologize for the PC lashing.. It appears that we DO agree with xina for the WIN. Your condescension in comment @5 was what lost me..
Who's the one lashing out now? Ideology?? Puh-LEASE! You don't know me any better than I don't know you. At this point let's just cal a truce. We agree with xina. That's good enough for me.

22

My New Years Eve activity will be to take my 2020 calendar, PISS ON IT, THEN BURN IT.........

23

I am so excited for the blockbuster release of the hot new COVID variant here in America! I wanted to catch it when it first opened in the UK, but you know - travel ban. Womp womp. Better late than never! Soon, it’ll be sweeping the nation.

Now we can show even more contempt for health workers. You thought you were overwhelmed before? Ha - hold my beer. You’ll be forced to work ‘round the clock, and you’ll do it because you care. The rest of us clearly don’t!!!

24

@21: Well, you can't expect to write in cartoon talk and not get some push back dear. I was gracious enough to defend you in @9 and you didn't thank me but actually tossed me another barb in @16 - but that's okay.

You need to develop the ability to laugh at yourself when called on your overt silliness and ridiculous, yet endearing, cartoon prose.

I mean after all, a war vet like you should have thicker skin. I suggest you take my advice and mature just a bit.

25

Just logging on to defend billionaires against the tyranny of the renters for no apparent reason other than I hate myself.

26

Checking in to make sure Leavenworth is still here.

28

@5:

"Actual words in the English language". The rotting corpse of William Shakespeare is exuding some sort of pustulent substance expressing unrestrained laughter at such a barefaced, fat-witted yelping.

https://www.litcharts.com/blog/shakespeare/words-shakespeare-invented/

29

@28: Still rotting after 400 years, I'm impressed.

30

@28:

Pieces of tin foil floating in the breeze would impress you...

31

well
I'm getting
My Stimmy
on the 6th!
woohoo!

32

@30 meant for @29...

33

@32 - as if anyone cares

34

@33: Really indulging before starting the "be best" New Year's resolution, aren't you?

36

@24: How's your blood sugar, Rainy? Check the contents of your household cleaners before inhaling. And for heaven's sake, stop altogether if you lose consciousness.You do know not to mix Clorox with hydroxychloroquine, don't you?

@29: ....said the condescending , thin-skinned concern troll slighting veterans (do we scare you?) and misquoting Hanna-Barbera, as usual. Lay off the Cocoa Puffs, Rainy.

@31 kristofarian: Woo-hoo! Unless I find out otherwise, my stimulus payment comes on the 4th, supposedly.

@33: And yet you're still here, trolling as usual.

WA-HOOOOOOOOO!!!!! May 2020 be nothing but a bad memory of an out-of-control rollercoaster ride through Hell. Every idiotic MAGA who ecstatically voted for Trump / Pence in 2020 as well as back in 2016 should have his or her right to vote again permanently suspended.

37

@33:

It's funny how people who claim "nobody cares" about a particular statement nevertheless can jump onto a comment board within a matter of minutes, as if their finger has been twitchily poised over the refresh key in a near climactic state of arousal just waiting for the chance to tell the world how little they care. That's NOT "not caring": not caring would mean having so little regard that you can't be bothered to respond. In your case your desperate need to tell everyone you don't care just comes off as sad and pathetic.

It must really suck to be you.

That said, let's see if you can muster even an iota of self-control and NOT respond to this within 15 minutes - or better yet, ever - or even better still, just permanently STFUA. It may be the closest you'll get to anything even remotely resembling a New Years resolution...
