"Hazard pay [$4/hr bump!) for grocery store workers is here... "

Excellent. they're as front line as
(nearly) anyone and besides I have
a Vested Interest so 'Bout f'n Time oh
and BRAVO.

2

The City of Seattle sure could b e putting to use that big plot of land at 5th & Mercer that they sold to Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for pennies on the dollar right about now.

4

I would encourage Tammy and the other members of the council to reread ā€œFirst they cameā€ and reflect upon their actions or lack thereof all last year before they attempt to elicit any sympathy from anyone.

5

Sheā€™s right. Itā€™s a very hard job being in charge of a city and running it into the ground. What with the being recalled and the name calling and the broken windows (which Iā€™ve learned is not actually violence at all, but an expression of unheard voices) and those terrible terrible eggs being thrown at their poor mansions, I mean, solidly middle class homes. There are lots of people donā€™t like them and let them know in mean ways. She and Kshama should probably leave and find other work thatā€™s more positive for them. Itā€™s only the right thing to do.

Glad grocery workers will get hazard pay.

Wish we could get them, and teachers, vaccine shots early too.

You know, row houses used to cost $20,000 to $30,000 in Seattle, so Tiny Homes is just us accepting that people need housing here. Plus city-owned 100 GBPS broadband for $10 a month. Like Vermont has.

8

"... $4.2 million for three new tiny house villages, or around 120 new tiny homes."

Wowser -- $35K per gotta be GOOD.

let's hope they have laundry and
a covered bbq/eating area and
maybe a Bus line closeish.

rest easy jakkkay
Unions usta be 35%
of the Labor Force and we
had a Thriving Middle Class
and now they're down to about 6%
and most wages are Shit and decent
Bennies are distant memories

& round-a-bouts
are Hard!

your ceaseless
Commitment to
The Poor is well

Morales is a fraud. A horrible person. Listen to her say "I don't want to hear is for our constituents to be told to be civil, not to be reactionary, to be told looting doesn't solve anything."

https://twitter.com/i/status/1267669391836975104

And she has the gall to complain that violence being threatened crosses the line? VOTE HER OUT!

13

Forget the database of properties where you could one day build tiny home villages and just build some fucking public housing projects already, my god. By the time you site your new villages, another 1000 will have moved here to be our neighbors, just down on their luck!
And who is the sick fuck that made R34 of Morales LOL

14

Could someone explain to me how an across-the-board 4-dollar-per-hour bump for grocery workers does not put local chains at a substantial disadvantage vis-a-vis Safeway, QFC, etc.? I mean, Safeway can disperse that cost across all the markets where this requirement does not exist. PCC, not so much.

15

LOL this thread looks like it was copy pasted from the comment section of the Seattle Times. Shake your fists middle aged white guys! Shake ā€˜em!

16

@14 - Clearly PCC and its customers have no concern whatsoever about their pricing anyway. It is a fine place to go if you are feeling guilty about Whole Foods undercharging you, however.

17

@6 - when was the last time row houses cost $20-30k in Seattle? We need cheap housing but that is a price point we'll never get to. Tiny houses will help. More apartments/duplexes/triplexes would help too.

20

@19, well Benghazi really was a low moment for the Obama administration.

21

Trembling in her abject silence, CM Morales refused to say, "Everyone on the Council lives in fear of Socialist Alternative's goon squads. If they can blatantly threaten a former US Attorney's family with total impunity, what can they do to us?!?" Also not speaking, CM Sawant nodded and grinned as she sharpened a knife.

22

"CM Sawant nodded and grinned as she sharpened a knife."
