What a weird battle for Idaho to fight. Because nothing says I'm a conservative like wanting to control what people put in their bodies and attempting to stifle a free market enterprise.

@1,

It's the "I fear what I don't know" ideology. They want to ban anything that isn't CURRENTLY legal. Like old southern voter suppression laws... You are only legally authorized to vote if your grandfather was legally authorized to vote.

Conservatives are so terrified of change, any change, even good change, that they must be dragged--kicking and screaming--into a better world. Once they get into the better world, they steadfastly refuse to return to where they used to be, because they finally see the hell that it was. But it's a nightmare trying to get them to that better place to begin with. And that cycle repeats itself with every new transformational invention.

My mother has not gotten rid of her rotary dial phone. It's a sickness.

@3: A working rotary dial? I wouldn't give it up either. What a hoot.

Holy shit, I'm not yet even a full minute into that video of Capitol rioters and had to pause it just to note that I love it so much. That first woman they get going on about our being culled for brainwashing to "trans-humanism" is an absolute delight. I know it's not especially constructive to make fun of these people, but it certainly is entertaining. Here's the wonderful Jake Byrd at a Trump rally back in 2016.

More Idaho money for Washington and Oregon.

The Alaska GOP figured out long ago that people like weed and union pay, too bad that’s all they figured out.

This sorry situation was guaranteed the moment a national disaster was farmed out to below the state level, (i.e. trump's lasting legacy). Because the moment the vaccine was distributed by institutions with financial interests, and little to no public oversight, (ok, notably less so than the federal government), then the ability to obtain "first class" virus protection devolves to the all mighty buck. We should've had federal distribution right down to the sidewalk level.

Only if Mayor Jenny had that same sentiment towards the black co-business owners of that state-legal medical dispensary that she went after as federal prosecutor. She wouldn't have gone after them to make herself look "tough on drugs". Speaking of which, has anyone at the Stranger ever reached out to her on that topic?

Idaho's gonna Idaho (Part 2,656).

Their state government (or lack thereof) will keep fucking that chicken.
