Imagine how much better life would be if the n’peechment trial could be held in a giant hot tub, and we could just toss a fucking toaster in there.

Republicans are the party of terrorism

"In voting to acquit Donald Trump for encouraging political violence and insurrection, with the evident goal of nullifying the 2020 presidential election and overthrowing democracy, Republicans in Congress are formally announcing their endorsement of right-wing terrorism as a legitimate means of gaining and securing political power.

Past is prologue. As with Hitler and Mussolini in the late 1920s and early '30s, many coup attempts fail in their first attempts. If Trump is not impeached and convicted for the crime of insurrection, another coup attempt by Republicans and other right-wing extremists is all but guaranteed. To help deter such an outcome, Trump's co-conspirators (including those in Congress) should also be investigated, put on trial and convicted for criminal and civil crimes as well.

The Republican Party's final embrace and endorsement of right-wing political violence and terrorism is not a surprise. For decades, such tactics have been increasingly encouraged and normalized by right-wing opinion leaders. Trump's second impeachment trial offers one more moment when they are showing the American people and the world exactly who and what they are."

"...that vampires have more heart than Ted Cruz..."

I'm pretty sure the truth is an affirmative defense here.

4

The GOP really has no moral high ground to criticize a person for mean-tweeting. Or anything else really. I thought they didnt want people to act all PC all the time?

5

I know it's de rigueur to hate on SPD, but even a broken clock is right twice a day.

"SPD Killed a Person" may be literally correct, but it's also a bit snide and dismissive for a case where all early indications are that this was a justifiable use of force.

8

@4, agreed.

Trump rage-tweeted non-stop, 24/7, for four years before Twitter finally cut him off, and they're still licking his taint. But sure, republicans, get mad at Tanden for a couple of tweets.

Mad Madge called for Pelosi's execution, stalked a teenage school-shooting survivor, and thinks forest fires were started by Jewish space lasers, and the republicans were totally fine putting her on the education committee, but sure, get mad at Tanden for a couple of mean tweets.

massive eyeroll

9

"Just to mention a few of the thousands of negative public statements," Tanden [oops! -- make that Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio)] said, "you [Neera Tanden … [[nominated for]] … head of the Office of Management and Budget] wrote that Susan Collins is the worst, that Tom Cotton is a fraud, that vampires have more heart than Ted Cruz. You called leader McConnell: Moscow Mitch and Voldemort, and on and on.”

yeah, all that gol-darned Negativity
but, yeah -- Were they Lies*?

well, hell that's not really Up for Debate

*like FAKE "prez's" 29,491 Lies

68% of Seattlites are willing to get a vaccine. Much better than national number, which show that 1/3 of Americans will not. A whole 1% better.

15

@10 - You say that like it's unreasonable.

16

So if anyone else has, like myself, been holding out a faint glimmer of hope that the damning testimonial and horrific video may actually sway a small number of GOP Senators to reconsider their opposition to convict, I think we can now pretty comfortably put that idea to rest. Turns out a good number of them didn't even watch the video. Here's Colbert from A Late Show last night...

"Senator Rick Scott studied papers in his lap, taking only the tiniest glimpses at the screen to his right. Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton also focused on papers in front of him instead of the images depicting the insurrection at the Capitol. And Marco Rubio did the same. And Rand Paul, instead of watching, looked down at the pad of lined paper in his lap, where he had already begun doodling with a pencil."

Nathalie Graham doesn't care about murdered black men. More at 11.

20

@9 Bernie is not a big fan of her either....

"But of course your attacks were not just made against Republicans," Sanders said. "There were vicious attacks made against progressives, people who I have worked with, me personally. So as you come before this committee to assume a very important role in the United States government, at a time when we need serious work on serious issues and not personal attacks on anybody, whether they're on the left or the right, can you reflect a little bit about some of the decisions and the personal statements that you have made in recent years?"

It's awesome how Biden is bringing together Progressives and Republicans

21

@22,

They're not "Seattle's Newspaper." They're "Seattle's Only Newspaper."

Dumbass.

25

How about Philly gives the cops a bonus of getting to keep their jobs in exchange for wearing the body cameras? In a sense that is a 100% raise over being fired.

26

@14 - Every red hat-wearing dumbfuck who refuses to get a vaccine is one step closer to the front of the line for the rest of us. And while they create a problem for generating herd immunity, banning them from working (or collecting unemployment when they can't work) and from riding buses, trains, planes, restaurants, bars, etc. will both protect the rest of us AND give them a reason to get vaccinated. I'm sure they are not tired of being stuck in the house yet.

27

we got us a Winner!
@dvs99 -- well Played.

28

@26: and if I may add to your nice list for completeness: a better chance at helping improve the IQ of the human race by going all out for the Darwin award succumbing to a virus by said free-dumbfuckery.

30

@29:And it may be true, it is not accurate... What is it, buddy, alternate facts you want to believe in? Like you may have your head firmly stuck in your ass? Or is it yes, your head is stuck in your ass, but for now, "Well my head is not stuck up my ass but it may be possible my head is stuck in an orifice the shape of of an anus."

Priceless idiocy: you are certainly in the running for a Darwin award. Pro tip: I know you won't be doing something stupid to fuck it up... You have done so well so far.

Nathalie- If you want a radio station there's already an unused one right on Capitol Hill. KDXB-LP 95.3 has been transmitting silence (transmitter on, dead air) for over a year now. The head of the non-profit that was granted the license passed away in 2019 and the tight rotation of hit music and legal ID's that was serving as a placeholder stopped in the late fall. The non-profit didn't file it's yearly update this year and was dissolved by the state in September. It's up for license renewal in 2022 and of course that won't get filed either, leading to the license being cancelled. None of this will matter to the tiny transmitter on top of a Capitol Hill office building, which will apparently soldier on for the rest of eternity or until something in it fails.
