What the hell does "I wonder what she's really doing" mean? Do you have any reason to suspect that Jill Biden is NOT talking to & listening to military families?

3

The coverage of King County Council races completely ignores Sarah Perry (https://www.sarahperry.org/), who has already been campaigning hard for the District 3 seat since the beginning of the year and is endorsed by a slew of local elected officials and community leaders. It's incredibly poor journalism that Joe Cohen is listed as Kathy Lambert's only challenger.

Re: We're #1! Again!

Must be all our soshalizms. This is terrible news for the FWD: FWD: OMFG Seattle IS DYING (Home Alone face) crowd.

@2,

Were you able to see the picture embedded in the accompanying tweet? Maybe that's got something to do with his seemingly snide remark? I wasn't able to see it, as Twitter was requiring me to "login to my account" to do so. If this is a new requirement of theirs, I guess I've viewed my last tweet.

7

What @3 said. No mention whatever of Sarah Perry and her campaign is shit-poor journalism.

9

Piling on to @3 and @7 - you've got to be kidding with this - ignoring Sarah Perry's campaign completely and giving that guy a picture and all that attention? Perry has lived in this area for something like 20 years and she GETS IT. Let's get some decent coverage of the race here!

@8: COCAINE and MALT LIQUOR are clearly needed in the survival kit for enduring the victim industrial complex of Meghan and Harry.

12

@10 Hooray! More "free speech" writing from a white dude telling a woman of color to calm down, because the real victims are white dudes of means whose struggles don't get enough attention (see also Trumpism). Apparently Spiked is just Breitbart with better graphics.

@11:

You could call it a "Four Loco Smoothie"...

15

Who is running against Dow for the executive's position? Has anyone officially announced yet?

16

That was funny Jackay dear. I almost split by body stocking laughing.

If you added a little citrus Comte, I think you have the formula nailed!

Washington State rates #1 and Louisiana rates #50 in the U.S.?
Wow. I know someone who probably now wishes she had never relocated to Louisiana from her native Washington State five years ago. While she may think differently (she's very positive and resilient, bless her), from what I have heard in phone conversations, and read in emails, cards, and letters, it seems like her life has really gone downhill ever since her move and recent retirement.
She left Washington State to help some friends down there (she had lived in the New Orleans area previously for some fourteen years before moving back to Washington in the late 1980s), planning on a temporary stay while on the low income housing waiting list here. She was informed by the Washington Housing Authority that because she was living in Louisiana, she could no longer qualify for residency here. The DOL in Louisiana informed her that she had to change her license to a Louisiana plate, and that made her move permanent. Since then the combination of extended and more severe hurricane seasons and evacuations due to climate change, the rise of rabid Trumpism in her community since 2016 (she's a Democrat!), worsening health problems (including a longtime diagnosis of MS and a brain tumor), and the ongoing COVID pandemic is probably going to make her chances of ever returning to Washington State anytime soon slim to none. I miss her company and really feel for her.

That US News Report ranking is a load of shit. Seriously. Anyone who believes it is out of their minds. Any amount of digging into any individual component used to compile the data will immediately show that this report is not reality based. But hey, if you want to believe WA is the best state in the nation in which to live, denial is also a state many people inhabit.

21

Florida is #10 in the nation?!?! LOL that right there is enough (without further proof) that that report is total fantasy.

22

The "little, yellow, spiky shrub looking thing" is 'Chief Joseph' pine. A dwarf version
of northwest Lodge Pole Pine identified by Doug Will, that changes color in winter.
Messing with someone's planting is another matter altogether. Please, find this culprit
and help them get their plant back.

23

@20 xina: Points well taken. As a Washington State native, there's no place I'd rather be, so maybe I'm a little biased toward my home state. What denial? I live in Bellingham just south of the U.S. / B.C, Canadian border. On the other hand, my WA-born and raised friend in Louisiana, her friends, and others are going through a rough patch, though, and that's reality, too.
@21 xina: I noticed that Idaho is ranked #5. above Florida's #10. Isn't the US News Report Republican-owned? That would explain the level of fantasy in compiling the data in the Best States report. My guess is if Washington is ranked so highly in the report, Republicans must think because of Amazon, it's ideal for businesses.

24

@23: No auntie, U.S. News and World Report is not owned by Republicans. It's owned by Mortimer Zuckerman, who has donated more than $68,000 to US political candidates, with $42,700 going to Democratic politicians and $24,000 to independent interests.

@24 Elmer & @25 xina: Upon further digging via Google, I found that Mortimer Zuckerman, Editor in Chief and owner of U.S. News and World Report is also owner of Boston Properties, and who has a current net worth of $3 billion as of January 2020.
Thank you both for citing additional sources.
