"...the fucking 5,500-mile long Colonial Pipeline is back up and running and pumping the substance that is [sic] melting ice on the poles and diminishing the only kind of terrestrial environment that humans have ever known and flourished in.

Oh Cholly. You're the most. Can't wait to have you to tea. I heard today that several people have been filling plastic bags (like grocery bags) with gasoline and the news sources have warned that is a dangerously unacceptable storage container. Man, iz we dum er wat? Also, why are people stocking up on gasoline at $6/gallon when this is a very temporary problem? If you were going to stock up, wouldn't you do it when gas falls to $2.70?

I wonder if Rep. Gosar, a doctor of dental surgery, prides himself on his idiocy. I know it happens quite a bit, but I'm still so amazed that someone can be so educated and yet so very stupid.

"We will no longer have to meet them with our eyes. "

But ten fires that SFD had to be put out should give you cause to revisit your thinking on the situation, Charles.

I've been writing to the Board of Governors of the USPS for a year. The current board will not change enough with Biden's three nominees (if they all get appointed). The current board does not give a fuck.

The head of the BOG worked with Trump and Mnuchin and McConnell to get DeJoy placed in his position and the only way he will be removed is if he is charged for the crimes he has committed (surprise, you can't make the changes he made legally without public input, but that has to be overseen by the BOG again they don't give a fuck) or if the entire BOG is fired for not doing their job, for conspiring with Trump and McConnell to tamper with the mail and steal the election (never happen since we haven't seen the 148 members of congress who voted against Biden's win removed from congress, which is what should have happened the moment they voted in favor of sedition).

Relentless pressure on Biden, Congress, and the DOJ (and to a lesser extent since they seem to not give a fuck either - is the Postal Inspector) to fire the entire board (not including Biden's placements since they were not involved) and for them to fire DeJoy before they get fired (maybe they avoid going to prison for defrauding the American people while refusing to do their jobs and taking financial payment for their part in the destruction of the USPS) is the only thing that will end this nightmare. Unless DeJoy dies.

So if we shut down the pipeline to death permanently would we be saved or would more people die due to increased emissions from transporting fuel by train/truck or not having access to fuel at all? Things that make you go hmmmmm.

5

Don't quote ME on it but I read on Slashdot yesterday by supposedly "someone in the know" that there was nothing wrong physically with the pipeline at all. Their billing and metering system went down and had no way to charge customers. Again, don't quote me on that, it's just what I read.

Suppressing for years a report underscoring the rapid destabilizing of our habitat, for the sake of the destabilizers' income. Yet another reason Trump and Pruitt would should be put up against the wall, along with the rest of that criminal organization.

10

Ortolan dear, I imagine that was very much part of the equation. Money is money, after all. But I suspect the real problem - and the real danger - was some sort of hijacking of the SCADA system(s). That could really mess things up.

11

@9: As if the report had anything scientists didn't already know or suspect.

Surely, Charles is inviting those firebugs from the park to bunk with him at his residence.
And dry cleaners are a huge source of pollution. Old dry cleaning properties require extensive, costly cleanup of soil and ground-water. Maybe it is time for some of them to go.

13

I haven't been to a dry cleaner in decades. About the only thing men ever need dry cleaned are suits and dress shirts, and I haven't worn a suit to work since 1999.

It's different for ladies, with their dainties, their silkies and their unmentionables.

14

@7 I still remember my father warning me when I learned to drive: "There is not a car on the road that is faster than a police radio".

15

Sometimes you have to dry clean sweaters when hand washing doesn't suffice.
