While concerts at Benaroya aren't my thing, I do remember Stranger announcing the death knell of live music around this time last year. I thought we'd be watching concerts at home on our TVs?

And someone who works there but doesn't know that it's Pike Place Market is a headscratcher -- or a recent arrival.

RE: Infrastructure plan cut

FTA:
"Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), the Senate’s most conservative Democrat, has been pushing for bipartisan negotiations, but it’s not clear yet if failed talks with Republicans will be enough to convince him to move forward along party lines."

As soon as I saw Biden attempting "compromise" I figured it was actually just a MacGuffin designed to make Manchin think compromise was being attempted and the fascists were refusing.

I have to believe Biden (and everyone else except Manchin) already knows the fascists are all going to stall and bitch and vote against anything the democrats propose, but he has to make it appear he's trying in order to trick Manchin to get on his side.

Manchin is really dimwitted and probably still, naively thinks the fascists can be reasoned with. Nobody else believes that. But Manchin has to be lead around with a carrot.

@4 Well, well, look who's grumpy about a market supplier selling goods in high demand at a price premium.

6

Bomb threats on public buildings? It’s the 70’s all over again.

Has the George Jackson Brigade resurrected itself?

7

@2 Agreed.

8

@6 The bomb threats never stopped, there's been no shortage of them in the years since the FALN was hauled out of a parked van in 1980.

Honestly, I feel like I know more people who had a phoned-in bomb threat or two in their High School days than people who didn't. They're barely news at all, are they?

Telling youths not to skateboard or bmx on public property because their infernal grinding might scuff a curb or hand rail is about as karen as it gets. Dude should of ignored his karening instead of attack him, tho. Also, I commend the Stranger for not contorting this into a hate crime for extra clicks.

10

@9: Yeah, but risking a crash into overly-fawned Chihuly masterpiece and smashing it into a million shards is another thing entirely.

13

Your writing about the live concert was wonderful. It made me a bit weepy. Nicely done, Rich.

15

I quite like the Lego set.

Wait, what? Is that blue Lego person ... Matt Gaetz??

16

@2/3:

Since it appears the GOP is just going to keep moving backwards from any sort of reasonable compromise, Biden should just call their bluff and add back in the $500 mm, plus another $500 mm and tell them he'll raise it by another $500 mm every day they refuse to come to the table.

@5:

Want to bet he's never ever even set foot inside Delaurenti?

17

@16 I guess you don't know how the government works. Without Republican votes, the bill goes nowhere.

18

@17 It’s a reconciliation bill, so it can pass if Manchin and Sinema get on board. The cut of $500B probably brings the new bill in line with Manchin’s demand not to raise the corporate tax rate above 25%. He might well be brought on board if the R team continues to “negotiate” in bad faith.

19

5: Not grumpy. Just typically we don't see high-end boutiques and eateries unionizing. Nothing wrong with it.

20

@19 Come on Phoebes, at least try to keep track of your current login.

21

@20

Wow! That was a pretty awesome revelation. Good catch!

22

Oh dear, I thought I was logged in as the professor.

23

That my friends, was a joke. I only have time and patience for my own comments.

24

@23:

"It was a joke" is the default walk back people use when they say something that wasn't meant to be a joke and get called out on it.

Now that you've outed yourself, your quandary deciding which of these two - of your no doubt many - fake accounts to give up.
