why do

"republicans"

HATE America?

2

I always enjoy the AM/PM posts that invoke a thematic element.

If you were @ltgrusselhonore you blew your stack over need for a 1/6 commission:

Re: the Alki party, it's so nice to have something happen that I don't have to have an opinion on. Like, it seems these days anything involving cops has some wider social/political implications, and this time it was just a party got out of hand. Reminds me of the Australian "famous glasses" kid.

5

It's a great day to be Yuge Traps. The sun is shining, the fridge is full of eggs, the portfolio is up 7.72%, head is full of rich, luxurious brown hair.

I want you too to thrive in this beautiful world. I recommend you start with vigorous exercise in the fashion that suits you best.

6

@5,

That's a rather depressingly wilted word salad you've tossed there after such a long absence. Where've you been?

7

Shoot, I watched the Alki party video expecting to see a striptease on top of a cop car, but it was only a bunch of shouting. Sigh,10-15 seconds of my life I'll never get back...

8

@5: "head is full of rich, luxurious brown hair."
It's amazing what they can do these days.

"I recommend you start with vigorous exercise in the fashion that suits you best"
Tee shirt and shorts okay?

Nice seeing you again Theodore

If you were from California, you would have used the phrase "the 101" to refer to the road that everyone outside of California calls "Highway 101" or just "101.'

Michael Flynn's comments about Myanmar: sickening and hateful. At least 800 people died. A legitimately elected leader was usurped. Tribal tensions have been aggravated terribly, almost but not quite pushing to country to outright civil war. Flynn sees no reason why a similar coup shouldn't happen here? I see EVERY reason why it shouldn't happen anywhere! And Sidney Powell's deluded nonsense about "reinstatement" is being parroted by Trump himself. It's a pathetic scene--but first and foremost it's hateful, and opposition to it must not slacken.

12

Flynn was already denying he made that statement the next day. Fitting that he'd be gaslighting everyone on Memorial Day.

If you were harassing people flying a Pride flag on a sailboat, then your own boat caught fire immediately afterward.

16

@13 begins with "probably got covid" as a disease of shame and ends with guilt tripping over covid deaths. Rage tends to unravel rhetorical coordination.

17

Idea: instead of reporting on people's tweets as news, you start a new column called "AM/PM Tweets" for all the garbage/rumors people are sharing over social media. A "controversy" might be considered news, but something called a "social media controversy" is usually someone on the other side saying something icky. Turning it into news just validates the garbage.

18

If WINNING the French Open made you depressed and answering routine questions about what court surface you prefer "hurts you" you should probably fucking retire. Burnout at these levels is a real issue but thats not how this reads.

20

If you were the King County Sheriff Office, you laughed out loud with contempt at the city council's performative theater in banning the use of facial recognition by your group since you know they will never attach any actual sanctions if a police officer violates the law.

After all, you have a long history of ignoring toothless laws like this without any consequences when you do:

21

@ 18 You are either 12 years old or completely stupid to not know that depression can happen to anyone, anywhere, in any job, in any situation.

22

@5: Theodore! Welcome back honey :)
I was actually worried about you this past year and am glad to see that you have managed to get through it (with apparently your hair intact!)

23

@18: JFC what a shitty hot take THAT was.

25

@24 The FFT requires players to be present at scheduled media events, under penalty of fine. Osaka was willing to pay the fine, but then the IFT threatened to bar her from other Grand Slam events if she didn't get in front of the microphone.

So this has become a labor issue, and people who care about labor issues are kinda interested. Most fans of the sport don't care if a player does or doesn't show up and provide some forgettable quotes, but management and the chuds who reflexively side with management are making their predictable noises.

26

@14,
That was hilarious!

@17,
Journalism is dead.

RE: French Open press conferences and Osaka resigning

THIS is how you handle Q & A at a press conference:

28

@27 A bit dated though, everyone in the room there seems well-briefed and focused on facts. This one cuts a lot closer, I think.

I like Marshawn

Hmm. Still doesn't work. At least, not for me.

32

"'I want to know why what happened in Myanmar can't happen here. No reason. I mean, it should happen,' he said to a crowd of absolute psychopaths in Dallas."

Plain bad reporting. At least get the quotes right. Those words were said by two different people.

33

@31 I'd tell you how \~\~to escape from the markdown filter\~\~ but then they'd just take it away from us again then wouldn't they.

34

Oh no look at that, something went wrong, someone might see what I'm up to. Oh dear.
