Re: Made in Hong Kong. The trailer does have a vaguely Araki-esque vibe to it. The camera lovingly gazing at the half-dressed male lead throughout, despite him being nominally straight. I was in Hong Kong a year or two before the handover. There was a lot of tension and stress. Everyone was wondering what the communist government would allow once the Brits were officially out. Especially the gay community. So in that time, you were unlikely to see movies that were explicitly gay. Metaphor was about the best you could expect.
The Langston Hughes movie looks delicious. I'm gonna have to get ahold of that one.
