Nathalie, 'involved' is an appropriate placeholder word when all the fact aren't known.

You know, the Jews who had to wear the Yellow Star during the 1930s and 1940s did not do so voluntarily. They were forced to on pain of (liberally administered) death.

So people putting Yellow Stars on themselves in a hysterical act of martyrdom to protest a voluntary vaccine? To say that is an insult to the folks who lived through the Holocaust is not going nearly far enough.

5

Miss Nevada is way hotter than the previous first lady, who is apparently jealous of the current first lady for being on the cover of Vogue.

6

@4: You're just reverberating this crap and insulting the memory of the holocaust victims even more.

10

@7: The false equivalency is already apparent by the actions of the anti-vaxxers and stands by itself, and certainly doesn't need the malevolent wretch which is the tit-for-tat goulish holocaust screenplay fantasy - you and xina seem to think as so profound, but is simply childish and classless.

12

@9,

The Times' article was posted at 9:20, nearly an hour after the Slog AM posted. Eat shit, idiot.

13

@11: Oh please. Do tell us, who needs anyone to "explain the details" of the holocaust to know that the anti-vaxxers are making a false equivalency?

16

@15: The fantasy of torturing and killing anti-vaxxers a la holocaust may be fun when kept to oneself, but it certainly isn't following the lessons of the holocaust.

Got it? I certainly hope so.

My friend Ariana's mother was 3 years old when the Nazis ransacked her parents' home and burned it down while the three of them fled for the lives. I lived with Ariana and her mother and her grandmother (along with Ariana's father and brother) for a few years in the '90s (went to college with Ariana, who is to this day one of my closest and dearest friends) and let me tell you, Anita Hoffman, Ariana's mother, were she still living, would eviscerate motherfuckers like these anti-vaxxers.

The point I made is not about false equivalency (anyone with one brain cell understands the false equivalency), the point is about giving in to these motherfuckers to the extent that if they want to lay claim to being treated like Holocaust victims, then let's give it to them, every single piece of it. Let them truly experience the terror and the violence and the sheer magnitude of dehumanization and death perpetrated by the Nazis. Then they can, in death, finally be justified in their claiming victimization. Imagine how many people will not care. Imagine how many people will deny it ever happened. Imagine how many people in the future will pretend they are victims just like them.

19

@17 thank you.

21

@16 if you think treating wanting to treat anti-vaxxers who claim they are like Jews in the Holocaust like makes people like me like the Nazis, you don't understand false equivalency at all.

22

*if you think wanting to treat

23

By this politician's own logic, those who are anti-covid vaccine are like rats and other vermin infesting and ruining the culture of america. He's kind of spot on there.

27

@18: "Let them truly experience the terror and the violence and the sheer magnitude of dehumanization and death perpetrated by the Nazis."

Your fantasy will never quenched. Sorry.

28

@17: Your fondness for malleable idioms, phrases, and Latin statements is well established, but ultimately intellectually lazy.

30

Kinda funny that the people who are creating "two Americas" in Fauci's phrasing are pretty much the same ones who tried to create 2 Americas in the 1860s. New century, same dumbfucks.

Wow, Fox "news" got fined a whole one million dollars. However will they recover from such a blow?

37

What is up with these RINOs?
The other day Trump issued a rant about how "the radical left [is among other things,] seeking to destroy the reputation of a President who [did stuff, including,] developing the vaccine in record time, thereby saving our county"
And these people are complaining about taking the Trump vaccine? (named for the "developer" like the Salk vaccine, not, unfortunately, named for what it prevents, e.g. the smallpox vaccine)

American carnage: What we are now learning about Trump's nightmarish mishandling of COVID

Despite his desire to be seen as the man who single-handedly created the vaccines, Trump just got people killed

the death toll in the U.S. from the pandemic is so high largely because the president of the United States at the time was an incompetent narcissist who was incapable of handling the crisis. So instead he said it was all bad press and poor optics and tried to happy talk his way out of it. It ended up killing people. A lot of people. Despite his desire to be seen as the man who single-handedly created the vaccines and saved the world, his followers heard him "downplay" the virus and they believed him. Now many of them are refusing to get the shots and Trump's American carnage continues to this day.

The One in Which Garb Meets Raindrop

43

@2 kristofarian: Once again, spot on as usual. Agreed and seconded. Keep on rocking the house!

@4, @18, @19, @21, @22, and @40 xina: I am sorry to learn about your friend, Ariana'a mother and the trauma she suffered as a Holocaust survivor. I have no sympathy for clueless Trumpists blindsided by hate speech, propaganda and lies. These people are out of control bullies who cry victim at the mere suggestion of getting vaccinated for the common good of the U.S. population.
Seattle Times columnist Danny Westneat suggested in a recent article that he felt Governor Jay Inslee's Shot of a Lifetime state lottery offering prizes to those of us Washingtonians (myself, included, thanks to the VA) who have gotten their COVID jabs was a bust because of all the people refusing to get vaccinated. No surprise that Ferry County in Eastern Washington (and home to failed 2020 RepubliKKKan gubernatorial candidate Loren "We Don't Need No Steeking Masks!" Culp) leads Washington State in the number of remaining citizens stubbornly refusing to get unvaccinated. Westneat actually suggested the state actually PAY these idiots to get their jabs. No amount of state funding would be high enough. I say, let these MAGA idiots die. And when they finally do, they'll most likely boast that they were happy to "take one for the team".
We desperately need a vaccine for GOP-fueled stupidity.

@6, @10, @13, @16, @27 & @28: JESUS, Elmer! You're more full of shit than a stopped up toilet. Stupidity is not one of the four food groups.

@7, @8, @11, @15, @17, @20, @29, @31, @32 & @34: Spot on, Garb! Agreed and seconded.

@35 Urgutha Forka: I'd love to see 90 year old FOX co-founder Rupert Murdoch and his minions of misinformation, like Sean Hannity, holding a bake sale, wouldn't you?

@36 & @38 Professor_Hiztory: I am just as shocked by Bill Cosby's release and the dropping of his multiple rape cases as you and many others are. This is a sad day for women and girls everywhere. And people wonder why I'm so grateful to have had a full bilateral hysterectomy, finally after 37 years of total monthly misery and why I'm so happily asexual.
On a brighter note indeed, good to hear hardened war criminal Donald Rumsfield is now dead. He won't be missed. He can roast i hell along with Rush Limbaugh.
@39 Professor_Hiztory: Thank you for corroborating my comment about the non-vaxxers.

44

@30 dvs99: omg How did I miss your brilliantly spot on comment?
Yep--the same people stubbornly anti-vaxxing are just as proud of their mis-story as their equally clueless forefathers, out fahtin' fer their Free Dumbs.
dvs99 for the WIN! Pure gold!

45

@43: Aiiiigh! Another glaring typo! Correction: make that "No surprise that Ferry County...leads the state in the number of Washingtonians refusing to get vaccinated."

Griz needs more red wine.

46

@45: Yes auntie, drink all the red wine you want whenever you want. You deserve to drink as much as you can possibly consume. Cheers!

47

Because, of COURSE, there is NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL between getting the population vaccinated to stop a deadly pandemic, and sending ALL non-Aryans to the gas chambers or the ovens. Because OBVIOUSLY, those two things are exactly alike.
"AIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"(as Bill The Cat used to say).

48

@46: How's your triglyceride level lately, Elmer?

49

@48: 139 mg/dL - standard rage: 0 - 150 mg/dL

What's yours?

50

@49: "Standard rage"? That would explain a lot, Elmer.
Holy shit--you must be rabid! Cujo for Cocoa Puffs!

You read it here first, folks!

51

@50: Too stupid to warrant a response.

52

@51 (re @49): Yep. Ya slipped in some glue, there, Elmer. But thanks for the laughs.
Better luck next time. :)

53

@51: As is @52 and any subsequent responses you post.

54

@53: Gee, we educated women really do scare you, don't we, Elmer? All because most likely you're a fat, balding, ignorant Trumpist incel. And that's why trolls like you are forever hiding like moles in your Mom's basements. It's easier and safer to lurk in the depths of the canned peas, mice, and spiders rather than actually have anything of substance or relevance to say.
Quit while you're 300 years behind, Elmer. Even your mother will thank you.

Gee---it's 3:20 AM on Sunday, July 4, 2021 and no typos. And no "standard rage", either.
BOO!
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!

55

@54: Well, goodie for you.

56

@55: On a better note, the heat wave has thankfully subsided, outdoor temps have returned to the 70s and 80s, July 4, 2021 didn't burst into flames, no lingering smoke, and a minimum of yowling cats and dogs (at least where my beloved and I reside).
Actually, 3:21 AM on Sunday morning, July 4, 2021 WAS pretty "goodie" for me after a little Cabernet Sauvignon.

I hope you and Nancy had a good 4th, Elmer.
Just be careful with the fifth. :)

57

Thanks auntie, I did. My neighborhood wasn't too crazy this year. Glad the heat wave is over (at least this one)
